    Similar problem to a degree with eth Arkstis ones I bought in a previous life as mentioned above.

    That said the current ones aren't really any better than 58 patt ammo ouches and they were a bloody pain.

    Anybody used the US ALICE ones?

    They look similar in operation to the old Berghaus Bergan buckles which were designed for one hand gloved operation.
    Alice buckles are hard to come by. I did see them for sale on a US website last year - gawd knows which one. Really been superseded by the ITW/Nexus 25mm Surface Mount as previously mentioned. The nice thing about the surface mount is that it only relies on 4 punched holes in the body of the pouch and a short length of 25mm nylon webbing (Where the Spanish buckle is mounted now)
    Dead easy to replace in the field if knackered.
    Places to get Surface Mounts:
    Ace Supplies (Expensive!);
    Point North (Black)
    Supply Captain (Coyote and Foliage Green)
    Supply Captain also sells on Ebay as Emmado - same prices I think.
    Some people drink from the Fountain of Knowledge;
    others just gargle.

    They're OK until they break (which they are prone to do because of the exposed nature of the 'tines') When they do break, they're useless. Best avoided, plenty of superior ITW type designs around.

    EDIT: I've just seen your last thread on the TRF thread. Whose corner are you fighting from now?
    well exactly!

    I'm not 'anti-AI' . I'm not putting you down the pecking order. Your insecurity is doing that, just like it does on every other thread where you assume that people taking a 'like you'd know' approach to you is them saying 'you're a nobody'.

    It's not that you're a nobody, it's not that any CFAV is a nobody, it's that you don't have first hand experience in a subject area that somebody was asking about!

    my friend is going to ask you some questions. personally, I hope you don't answer them because I want you to die in here and end up inside a pork pie!

    So does anyone have any other thoughts on pouches?

    well I have a thought on you being a complete utter cnut whose lack of achievement in outside life leads to you posting 'oh I've been on tour and you haven't' comments on a forum.

    big fcuking deal, I feel sorry for the fact you life consists of so little else.

    Ha, where did I say that? Evidence please.

    Is it true the ACF asked you to stop coming along because your dubious personal hygiene was upsetting the kids?

    At the end of the day it is up to you mate. Like I said velcro on the mag pouches. Anything else I find the issue fasteners do the job and the pouches free/exchangeable (so one time expenditure if you do buy an extra pouch).

    I seem to recall you are going on tour. People wear what the feel comfortable in as has been mentioned before. I lugged my PLCE with me but never used it because I didn't like it under Osprey. Some swore by it. Until you try the combo it is hard to know.

    My PLCE will never be further modded as I know now what I prefer. It will only ever be used in training and for that the current set up is fine. I have yet to have a pouch explode on me scattering kit willy nilly but I am sure someone will have a story of some horrific, soul destroying catastrophic failure of the fastener.

    Was just trying to get the thread back on track to be honest.

    I'm not inclined to spend a great deal of money for kit that will only get used in UK. As to what to take on tour - well, I think there are plenty of threads about that.

    It is unfortunate that we don't have the operational kit to train with so that we have plenty of time to get things "just so".

    I suspect PDT (or whatever its called this week) will be a little too intense to allow for much experimentation with kit.
