It came off in me hand chief!
If I had wanted to burn, collect sand in everything I own, overheat, run around, shoot things with something less than 4.5inch caliber, wear green/sand coloured baggy outfits, live more than 16m above Sea Level I would have joined the Army.

After 1 week turn your undecrackers inside and out and you have one more week out of them!
Brace up, show the movement!

Don't forget foot powder. The tins can be quite bulky so decant into small zip-lok bags. Stuff them into the toes of your spare shoes or into rolled-up socks just in case the bags split during transit.
"Hurrah for the Works Group" just doesn't have the same ring...
"A volunteer is worth ten pressed men."
So, a TA battalion or nine Regular Guards battalions? Not a difficult choice, then (especially as we don't have nine Regular Guards battalions).
I am a number. I am not a free man.

Having lost luggage a couple of times:
Never put anything you cannot replace in the hold. That's not just papers/work stuff but camera, the silver shaving brush, favourite teddy bear etc
Put a shirt, tie, pair of boxers, socks in hand luggage if there's room; that way you can operate even if the main case goes walkabout.
Agree with the brew kit (and a couple of cereal bars) and multi-pocket jacket.

Take the minimum, pack a weeks clothes and just get them laundered on the company. Always check in online, aisle seat and go direct to the gate. If you are stuck with a hefty corporate laptop they'll let you take its backpack and a rolling bag onto most biz class flights. Use just a small light laptop e.g a Mac Air if you can, don't carry multiple devices. Buy and throw away paperbacks, they are still more robust than eReaders and the laptop may get dropped.
An Irish passport causes fewer problems than a Brit one. Eat only lightly, the food is fre but still mostly crap you'd send back in restaurent. Don't get drunk. Do be polite to staff. Don't fuss about missing flights or delays, just chill. Join the clubs but don't get obsessed with their air miles. Avoid BA. Avoid Heathrow especially in winter. Avoid Frankfurt and JFK. Week long trips are worse for jet lag than short ones where your body clock never shifts TZ or longer stints where the bouts have longer in between them. Expect to catch lots of colds and chest infections.
In the US breakfast in diners, they're much cheaper more discrete for biz chats and often much better than the hotel, tip well and talk to local people, best way to get to know a city. This is a good idea in some European cities just ask the door staff at the hotel were they eat.
Expect to get robbed. Never take your eye off the bag when checking out. Use the safe and leave the passport, spare cash and spare cards in it. Carry ID and enough cash to satisfy a mugger. Don't assume the public spaces of a large hotel are much safer than the street. Make sure you are properly ensure medically especially if travelling to the US, the bills can get very large very quickly. That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!
