Re: Weekend away without the kids

Having stayed at the Pelirocco on a couple of occasions we treated ourselves to the Play room for my birthday weekend. This room is something else! Large bedroom (with all the glamor you want) funky seating area with huge TV and enormous bathroom with corresponding enormous bath! Loved it all!
We've been lucky to stay in some of the worlds best hotels and yes, compared to some of them the Pelirroco is a little rough round the edges.....but thats not why you go there...if you don't get this hotels vibe then stick to the Holiday Inn.

Eurostar to Reims - the home of champagne. Visit some of the champagne houses for a tour and tasting, then some great bars and restaurants.

Leave your running kit at home, you should be bouncing from bar to bar, not park to park.

Eurostar to Bruges...medieval town, great bars, restaurants, romantic carriage rides, chocolate, beer and a day trip to Ypres if you feel lucky! TFB and I always spend first/last night on Belgian trips there. If you avoid the obvious tourist trap restaurants then it is all Sir Garnet.

We like the Park Hotel - good parking, nice bar, they don't suffer Germans gladly!

They used to say if an infinite number of chimps typed we would get the works of Shakespeare, the internet has proved this is NOT the case...

Try a trip to Marrakesh. Ignore all the advice to stay at Maison Arabe and stay at Riad Al Massarah. Brilliant hotel and they will set up a trip for you up into the Atlas or you could go ballooning. The place is run by a couple of very gentle fellows and as a result the decor is wonderful and the treatment you get is out of this world. Look it up on trip advisor to see how amazing it is. They have their own Hamam and they can arrange for a masseuse/ masseur to come in and do the whole Moroccan bath bit.

My wife and I sayed there for a long weekend and were as happy as you could ever be. Much walking and shopping and the most amazing views.

    Try it you'll love it

Jesus fucking Christ. Why do I bother?
The hotel is great with or without kids....the reason I mentioned "child friendly" is rather dependent on whether Whitehorse wants a romantic weekend away without children around or whether the pluses of the hotel overcome the fact that children will be there.

    Should have made it clearer.
If he doesn't want his own kids around i'm sure he'll not want some other fcukers.

The canal trip is quite fun too. My second favourite place after Marrakesh

    Such as:
    - Either gliding or aircraft flight above the Hermannsdenkmal and the Externsteine
(both places are fantastic for some walking/climbing as well)
    - visit to the ornithological station (eagle breeding and training) in Berlebeck with a magnificent show
    - cycle or trekking tour through the Teutoburger Wald
    - the Kletterpark at the Hermannsdenkmal which is great fun
    - and finally if you're interested in history or want to do something completely different as well,
you can learn and see lots of things about the Romans and the Varusschlacht.

If you decide for this, I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time.
Is there a vegitarian option? Fucks sakes.

I would recommend the La Rochelle area - Il de Re or Oleron - fabuous food, cycling, walking etc and I think a couple of the cheap airlines fly there
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, camel blue in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOW!!! WHAT A RIDE !!!!!!!!!!!
