It's a s*** job with s*** hours and leaves you being dragged from one arrse of an airport to the next on a wage a person can barely live on. If there are other perks, fair enough, but at the end of the day if that is more or less all there is, paying staff at the rate of a junior-vice-assistant-manager at KFC with naff-all advancement prospect won't get you quality.
Mate, they pish and moan about it because they're tarts. The basic pay isn't great but that doesn't stop them hiring Limos in Vegas and having to spend 5 days on the beach in St Lucia with nothing to pay for except suntan oil and drinks with little paper umbrellas in them- after working 9 hours.

Our package involves no reduction in terms or conditions for existing crew. Our Heathrow crew will remain the best paid in the industry. Average earnings for cabin services directors are £56,000 on long-haul and £52,000 on short-haul. For junior crew, they are £35,000 and £26,000 respectively. According to the Civil Aviation Authority, average costs of BA crew are twice those of their Virgin Atlantic counterparts.

If that is the case, then that's fine.
Are you pretty enough to do the job?
No. Nor young enough. Nor thin enough. Nor do I have the temper.
Looks like I have just had a close shave. I was going to book flights down to London City but will have to come up with another plan.
I used to use BA a lot to fly from London City to Edinburgh and only had one problem when a flight got cancelled and the check in dolly failed to tell anyone. Sh1te service and I complained - got £50 off next flight.
I could actually get discounted BA flights to Bangkok through family members who worked for BA, but tbh, I'd rather not. They are still more expensive than Thai, who themselves are more expensive than doing a little bit of hardship by going indirect. In this more 'save money where you can' World, people have voted with their feet. I would say 80% of the passengers I see with BA are businessmen/women who are on company tickets, and the rest go with them through necessity or through online promotions. B.A. need to watch out, if their core business - I.E. the city banker - fcuks off, thats them well sunk.

Concur completely - and as a 'private payer' I can see how, over the years, the balance has shifted.
Deals for companies to use BA? Business pax dominate - private travellers like me and the OH are a rarity up front [ooops, sorry ]

Try Qatar, you'll not be disapointed. BA have no idea about customer service, the staff are rude and arrogant. I hope I never have to fly with them again. They have forgot the customer and the plane guards are old and ugly granny's or nasty spiteful queens.
The oh went with his mother and sister last month to New York, his seat was broke and wouldn't go to an upright position - well surely they could have sorted that. It seems they apologised and him being in a good mood for a change didn't make a fuss. They gave him a bottle of champagne which was kind of them but he doesn't drink.

I'm quite tall and won't fly economy, but there are so many other places I can go with better airlines who really do seem to care about customers and are much, much cheaper. Fcuk 'em let them go bust, if I've managed ten years between flights and seen them get worse I don't care to use them again.
