Get in touch with your local field hospital, med types are always welcomed and I believe they have higher age limits.

    Re: 30 Something Recruits

    Hey, I'm a 29 year old female......

I passed ADSC in November 09 and was first back on the run by a good 20-30 secs in 9mins 50 secs, managed as many heaves as the younger ones (18-20 y/o).....

Us older potential soldiers can certainly show the younger ones a thing or two on the fitness side!! Mainy due to our attitude. We know that we can't just wing it any more!! Ypu do actually have to put some hard training in!!

I'm 32 years of age and passed ADSC with an A grade, the highest of the 2 days, took me 9.30 to do the run, pissed over a load of 18 year olds, got basic training 26 September just over 1 month before my 33rd birthday!! Power to the oldies can't wait to whip the youngsters!!

    Re: 30 Something Recruits

From age 16 I started taking part in the look at life programs while at college. My interest in the forces continued through my uni days, making frequent visits and such. At around age 25 after leaving uni, I started the recruitment process but failed my RCB main board due to temporary illness.

Since then I have looked at trying again but have always been "over the hill" with every age increase so have been working in France for a computer games company for a little over 3 years.

I turned 30 late last year and found finding out the age limit is now 33, I applied right away for soldier entry. I have my BARB in a couple of weeks and should have no problems there or with the physical tests.

While the age thing is a concern of sorts, I don't feel it is an issue for me. For one, most of my co-workers are in their early 20s and before that, I was one of the oldest at uni.

I guess if you "feel" old and you go into things thinking of it that way, then that's the way others will see you.

I'll let you know how it goes

The only thing thats doing my head in right now is the fact that i didnt do it years ago.
Hardly equates does it? After 48 hours training your in your back garden fishing empty nutty wrappers out of your ammo pouches whilst your missus hangs 9 sets of rig on the line wearing her proudest smile.....
