    Other gucci stuff:

    Dentist's tool set.

Air in an aerosol (the sort for cleaning computer keyboards) is also good for getting dust out of nooks and crannies. Obviously an HP air line would be better but I doubt there are many kicking around Sennybridge.
One cannot begin to fathom the immensity of the fuck I do not give.

Didn't they teach you clean them correctly during basic? If they did then THAT IS HOW YOU DO IT.

But you can always try and get your mates to help - that's what they do in the Navy...

    hedgehog64 and donmac like this.
In the career of glory one gains many things; the gout and medals, a pension and rheumatism....all of these fatigues experienced in your youth, you pay for when you grow old. Because one has suffered in years gone by, it is necessary to suffer more, which does not seem exactly fair.

Petrol and a small paint brush , finish of with a pull through and cotton buds, but dont get caught doing it.

You can use the same method for cleaning your cock.

Old tooth brush, suede brush, small squeezy bottle of oil with a non leaking screw on cap - some ammonia based cleaner.
    Summer grasses -
    All that remains
    of soldiers' dreams.

Another lad held the weapon while he held the pull-through with both hands. That didnt work. Eventually, four of us, one holding the weapon, one the pull-through, and two with their arms around their waists managed to free the flannelette. You can be sure the barrel was clean after that.
All very well, but I've seen that result in the pull-through snapping!
Most of us have learned this one! Cost me a slab of red and the undying ridicule of my muckers. None of whom had ever suffered the fraternal indignity of the broken pull-through. Apparently.

Actually the new issued LWP oil is pretty good, and better than the old OX24 as it has a detergent in it... that said, I have never found anything better than Napier solvent (not oil) to shift crud. I have aslo been known to use lighter fluid and an air can to shift muck. The fluid will shift old oil allowing the air blast to dislodge sand and grit, but mke sure you oil up later..

Be careful using a boresnake in the field.. It has a habit of collecting grit that can damage the bore. I bought an OTIS universal cleaning kit from the PX in Doha camp Kuwait years ago. It will clean everything from a .17HR to a 12bore - it all fits into a tiny zipper bag - I have cleaned all sorts with it - from a 4.6 x 30 to a DSHKa! I'm sure there's a brush for cleaning belly button fluff in there somewhere..!
