B Coy 4 Para (London) Insight evening 07 Feb 2012

Having had the usual round of questions about 4 Para recently, a last minute reminder that B Coy 4 Para will hold an Insight briefing evening tonight at White City TAC (Near to the Westfield Centre) starting at 2000Hrs.

This will give you a heads up on the 4 Para recruit requirements, the training cadre, P Coy, a fitness brief plus a chance to have a look at some of the weapons you will be trained on if you are successful. It will finish with an informal Q&A session over a pint in the bar.

A PM to me to let me know if you plan to come would be helpful but not essential. You do not need to wear a suit, bring anything, own your own gun or have your own Para Regt tattoo to attend.

If you can't make this one, there will be another one run next month.

    Hey Duke!
    Hope you are well?
I have a couple of questions if you don't mind taking the time to answer?

    1. What is the cut off age for joining 4 Para with previous military experience?

    2. When does the next cadre start?

    3. Can you transfer into the regs after completing p-coy, jumps course?

    Thanks for your time.

    Sorry,

Moved to the main MOD server so link now changed to as below:

    https://www.4para.co.uk/

    Sheer Khan,

    1. Up to 43, but very dependant on what your service was and how long ago.

    2. Forms up in June, so start to apply now to stand a chance of getting your paperwork done in time!

    3. Not as of right, no. We have a number of people on long term FTRS (Full Time Reserve Service) contracts, and some have transferred over after acquitting themselves well on tour. Do not plan on 4 Para being a route back to regular service if you couldn't obtain it through the AFCO.

Next insight night will be Tuesday 6th March if you want to come in and discuss anything.

    Hi Duke!

    Thanks for your prompt response.

    1. 5 years in the Rifles.

2, what is the quickest way to apply?

    3. Yes, I would love to serve in the Regular battalions.

    Another couple of quick ones-

What are the chances of going on ops with 4 Pars?

Whats the best route for a commission with 4 Para?

Good start. Depending on how long you have been out you could be looking at a best case of straight in with your old rank subject to passing TA P Coy.

2, what is the quickest way to apply?

Call the contact telephone number or use the online application given on the website for whichever company is best for you. They will invite you in for an insight briefing where you can pick up all the application forms.

Easy to achieve - subject to P Coy!

    Another couple of quick ones-

Up to now, amongst the highest in the TA! We are now looking beyond HERRICK and towards the future contingency ops, but the options are still there. You will be briefed on them on the insight night.

Whats the best route for a commission with 4 Para?

Pass P Coy, and providing you have the qualifications you would be interviewed by the OC and CO. Once both sides are happy you understand the implications you would be passed into the specialist officer training wings which will be at an OTC or regional training centre (depending how things settle once the reorganisations are finished). They will be responsible for getting you through the commissioning system, which is a significant commitment.
Best answer is to attend the insight evening and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you still have. Be aware that there is a serious backlog at Glasgow with processing ex regs joining the TA - the sooner the better to start the process.

Unfortunately not just ex-Regulars, but anyone with any kind of prior service. If they had a Regt'l number they'll have to be 203'ed and the good news is that APC are now up to last October's forms.

We do like to make life hard for ourselves, don't we? Spend millions on a recruiting campaign but fail to ensure we have enough staff to process the applications of one of our key target audiences.
