Indeed it is helpful.. I know I need to provide references etc but I m all fine with that.. Looking forward to Tuesday and I can t wait for Tuesday. I ll continue try get some more infor on training in the meantime that will help me make my decision where it s best for me to be.
Thank you Mincer ,
I want to learn, develop and be on the front with a dedicated platoon. I prefer tactical combat, light weaponry and brains combined with brawn, knowledge on weapons and combat tactics, physical fitness and gather as much experience as possible then hoping to go for PTI when I reach my 40's or so. I dont mind being in the middle of the action .. so... dunno.

All Royal Navy & RM /RMR will need to be Security Cleared
All royal Signals (the same)
But very few Artillery trades or Infantry actaully require it.
(helpful I hope)
That is a great insight that I've slowly sorted out on my own (Canadian citizen here) - I with the recruiting office would have told me that from the beginning! You should be a recruiter!
It s ok if u feel it s killed the convo. Was being just honest with my answer to the question' what do i want'. It deffo dont mean Im getting even 10%, but then again so be it. maybe too enthusiastic? i think i shouldnt be any less at this stage. meanwhile the clock is ticking faster and it s the only reason why i can t join regs. Well i m surely going for it and will do my best to be the best TA soldier or stab ( as respectfully called by the regs apparently), in order to support regular army on the field, and not to be in a social club eating take away pizzas, i can easily do that at home.
Finally my medical is done, my barb test is done and had an amazing Rsw experience! Wish I had the opportunity to do this before! can t wait for the results and even more it s spurred me to train even much harder. Few months gone by and I learned so much thanks to the Unit and the great blokes I have bonded with. For all those who are thinking about the army - stop thinking and do it!
Can't you transfer over to the RMR after the 3 years?
I'm sure there is some form of engagement that allows TA soldiers to join the Regulars
I am definitely keeping my options open, I have many questions about training and specialisations, but at the moment taking it the way I should ie; step by step. I will focus on my training and fitness level as much as I can and focusing to reach my target and bring my run to sub 8:30, by that time I hope I will have a wider spectrum of what is out there for me and how best I can serve the forces. My greatest wish is to join regular and I ll strive for that by getting on every deployment and training possible.
RMR will be something I might look at in a couple years time if they don't change entry requirements but to be honest it was the army who welcomed me and therefore I would probably transfer within the army.
