Do they distribute training centres, or do all TA go to Wyvren?
Wouldnt worry about the Kit list, it will be sent to you in due time, and to be honest, its pretty darn vague, just have to use your brain i suppose.

As for the Training centres, they are distributed across the country in what are called RTC's, regional traning centres, and so youll probably end up down the road somewhere. as for when you'll go to selection i had to wait 40 odd days to get my spot, although it will probably differ from area to area, but i will give you more info on it when i have done it.

And for the foot, thanks for the advice, ill just take it easy for a bit.

    Thanks.

    Cheers matey,

He, (the RSM that is) did say to me "we'll give you everything you need" so, I'm taking the presumption that will be a sleeping bag and roll mat, or something along those lines

I didn't realise it was regional, as that too, wasn't mentioned, just that there was a selection weekend on the 11th which, if all well and good should be going on, which should be a good laugh/hard work in equal measure

EwanL - Just a few random bits of advice (Im passing out on the same weekend that your starting - 10th/11th/12th) And yes at Wyvern barracks! To be honest mate your flapping about nothing! Training is a piece of piss!
CLOTHING - Turn up in your issue greens, boots polished and nice noticable creases on your uniform. If you have the no how then shape your beret! I found there is nothing worse than turning up and seeing the "S.U.T's" that your going to be training with, with sh*t rig and a beret worn like a french onion trader. You will have Cpl Jones and he likes to pick up on everything.
As for Civvy rig - Just bring a pair of trainers, jeans and a t-shirt/shirt, (and a couple of quid for the bar after 8.30)
KIT - Bring everything that you have been issued on every single weekend (even if you have been told you wont need it) Also bring a small travel pillow because when your staying in the barracks the matresses are like tracing paper.
FITNESS - Believe me mate if you can pass the RSD then you can smash the weekends! They are so easy that I would hapily go back and do it all again just for laughs. (Im joining the Rifles)
The hardest thing you will do on TSC1 is the endurance run on the sunday proberly about 4/5 miles (altho they will tell you it will be about 2 miles at a gentle jog) LIARS!!!!! It you dont finish it or you come in the slow group then no worries because its not a pass or fail thing.
By the end of training you will fear PTI C-SJT Hardy - He will beast you! It may be hard at the time but it will only make you a better person at the end of it.
Threw out the whole training process you dont do that much training that involves much heavy lifting either!

Anything else mate just let me know and il hapily let you know the score as I have just done it all recently.

Good luck fella, enjoy the training and dont worry about it.

Do you have any advice on getting fit for it Daz? I don't mind finishing with the last few in the (passing time) pack, but I certain don't wanna come last!

Bobo - When it comes to fitness mate you just have to do what you can when you can. As for the TSC1 Endurance run there is no set time to finish the run in, The run is just part of a P.T session. When I done it I was at the front of the fast group, because we were the "fast" group untimatly it ment we done more than the slow group completing alot more laps of the camp than the slow group but we all finish at the same time - The end of the P.T session.
Its not a pass nor fail proberly just a chance for the P.T.I's to see whos capable of what.
Threw out training the P.T.I's will teach you everything you need to know about getting fit and staying fit, You will learn alot from them.
My sugestion to you is that you mainly work on endurance and fitness theres no time threw out training that you need to use brute strength so weights are pretty pointless if your training for the t.a.
what you want to do as often as you can is absolutly smash the crap out of your self and put in as many miles as possible.
No mater how fit you are your never fit enough.

    Anything else mate just ask.

If you want to increase your PFT fitness, the best thing you can do is intervals or hill reps - a fair few sports science types are claiming now that 1min flat out, I min rest (not stopping but back to a gentle jog) as many times as you can (up to about 10 reps if you can) is the most effective (and probably quickest) way of improving cardio-vascular fitness). Alternatively find a decent size hill and sprint up the bastard as many times as you can until you feel like puking.
Also your 2.4 kms on a tread-mill is harder than on road (though some dispute this) so if you can achieve the required time on one you should be fine.
Mix it up - distances for fat burning and endurance, high intensity for cardio.
Up to you of course but through personal pride, attempt your required corps/age bracket time rather than the 13 mins (or whatever it is nowadays) risk reduction time - which frankly is ridiculous.
I'm no PTI by the way - I smoke loads, drink a fair bit and am frankly a bit slack at keeping my fitness levels up but using the above as a benchmark I have never achieved less than 30 seconds under my required time and I'm usually capable of achieving sub 9.30

    Exactly what theblindking says.
Thought I had already mentioned in my previous post about smashing out aload of 'fartlek' training as often as possible but looking back it seems ive forgot to write this in. 'appologies'
And like theblindking said - Find a nice big hill, As steap as possible and simply sprint up and down it as much as you can.
Ive got a nice big 'Killer hill' on woodbury common that I use, That you will soon get to meet when you do your tab.

Cheers for that lads, sounds all good stuff which I'll take on board. I'm pretty much the same, I smoke and drink, and don't have the "Jamie Oliver" diet, but, I do play a reasonable amount of sport, but I've never really been thin or athletic, but able to hold my own.

One thing I did try today was long distance walking, which my Brother suggested to me, so, I left the house today with a rucksack full of water and a few sarnies, and just walked to local landmarks, which thankfully round here there's plenty, left today at 12, got back about 7ish, soaked with sweat and very sore feet, but I feel alot better for it
