A whole £2500 per year - which when you take into account the extra costs of living in London in general means that compared to my peers in the shires, I am effectively on a paycut for working in town. Deep joy!

That combined with RPOD reductions, LoSLOA cuts and the introduction of a range of other cuts will have a significant effect on reducing overall expenditure.
Try it at the Bad Minden Hotel, delicious but you need LOA to afford it. Just as good at the Resturant next to the railway bridge as you enter Rheydt -34 euro for 2 pers.

I cat see LOA being cut if they have just put it up -nothing has changed ? I get the allowance cuts hurt but,,,,,,,'we are all in it together'

I'd second the chateaubriand at that restaurant in Rheydt. Am Spickhofen, isn't it? Meat fest in there.

ah, thanks for the name my friend - good to meet someone else who has discovered this hidden jewel. It is on a busy one way track into the town with the name on a wooden plaque and can be so easily missed. We used to go there thinking 'they have got the pricelist wrong, is it still 1980 in East Berlin ?' the decor may be dated but the food is immense & they are so welcoming. The joint carved at the table, a succulent fillet you could cut with a fingernail, a selection of fresh vegetables, asparagus hollandais and all the trimmings - perhaps old schule but with a bottle of Gervais Chambertain it is an incredible gourmet experience I try to repeat when in that area to impress guests or special occassion. Thankfully most of JHQ prefer the excellent, but pricey, Tuschenbroich in Wildenwrath - they dont know what they are missing - shhh dont spoil it

I am down in Elmpt again soon visiting family and it will yet again be the venue for our Sunday lunch, it just can't be beaten......but I am doing my best in all my old stomping grounds before I retire: Minden, Oznatraz, Wetmold, Bad O, Bellyfield, Celle, 'erford, Munster so many places to eat and so little time before we quit !

My heart stopped for a second when I saw this thread, I don't even know if we'll get it for being there just for the Olympics but by god if we do it'll be a nice little helper. I've lived in London before I joined and holy fuck, just getting around is expensive.
