Discuss LOA trashed The final Morale Straw? in Strategic Defence & Spending Review 2010 on The Army Rumour Service; is there a minimum time you have to be in BFG to get the car tax free, lets say that you have a three year posting, you turn up and 8 months down the line ...

No, but you have to keep for a year before you can sell it. If you do de-register it early and then sell it you will be liable to pay the tax.

Reading your posts I am astonished you didn't take that up with the Team at the time.

The items you list are not the criteria (components) the LOA team assess. They take ONLY two ranks (Cpl and Capt) and both single and married Cpls & Capts to assess expenditure (they are called 'marker ranks'). The basket of comparative costs in UK and BFG are assessed and then the figure is multiplied up and down for respective commissioned and non-commissioned ranks. Obviously there are more ranks above Capt than above Cpl so a Lt Gen gets LOA more than a Maj Gen. Strangely enough - the same pint of milk costs just as much for Mrs Lt Gen as Mrs Sig ?..and just as much for single Sig too.

As for prossies - they all cost the same down Ten Mark Alley irrespective of rank, its what they do costs different.

I'm out of date but how many Lt Gens are swanning around Germany these days?
It was like that when I got here.

If you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined.

Take it up? Are you ****ing mad? I was getting free lolly to buy tax free goods. Like **** was I going to rock the boat.
Those two ranks are chosen (I assume) because it was impractical to use all ranks. I wasnt arsed that as a tom a general was on a ton of extra cash more than me so long as I got some. It would actually make sense if Germany was really that much more expensive than the UK.

10 mark alley? My friend, you are going to be sorely disappointed with the level of inflation since you were last in boxheadland.

Well we are agreed on one thing, LOA is great if you get it.

Ten mark alley is a phrase from my callow youth, not sure what the going rate is now but would not dare to venture in case 'er indoors' found out - there is only one thing more expensive that marriage ...that is divorce !

You know people thought we were the same person - Nein Nein Nein - I now get the LOA and you won't - sorry mate !

It was 5 mark alley from my fathers time in then land of the Nazis (late 70 to mid 80s)
Its 200 hundred euro now (from what I can gather from those who frequent houses of ill repute), and dont for **** sakes offer to buy them a drink, its thirty euro for a bottle of sekt... errrr from what I can gather from those who frequent houses of ill repute.

Guess what? I get more LOA than someone of the same rank in Germany. Cheers easy. So all these spastics claiming they need it are talking out of their arse.
