You were right, I was wrong, I take it all back.

I confess I have been persuaded by the argument and logic on this thread. I now entirely support the payment of LOA in Germany, well deserved and an essential top-up to compensate the additional costs of living in Germany. Indeed it is far too low - it should be far more.

Completely unrelated is my short-notice assignment to Gutersloh notified last week.

Q Would you be able to fill the post by early Dec ?

Oh God! I was joking about living near me, now it looks like you might be. By the way, BMW so last year - Evoques are where the clever money is going at the moment.

Look forwards to your massive shopping bills - can recommend mini Preis if you want to see how poor Germans shop.

Good to see you are a man who stands by his principles and, true to your word, will donate every penny of your LOA to service charities to prove you do not need it. Or did I read that you are now on our side of the argument (and the Channel!)

I have always said that enjoy the LOA you get but I don't think it's needed as life is cheaper there - if HMG wants to give me almost 7k a year then I will gladly accept.

You have not yet seen the changes - have you? You might well agree with the thread title when you do!

They should be released this month with DCDS Pers giving HQ 1 (UK) Div a heads up when he comes to visit.

The final details are still being squared for the single ranks but indications are for a 15 - 20% ish increase to main BFG rates.

I am not holding my breath however

exactly what I heard too with only one word changed - increase - to read - decrease.
