1. You are essential until expendable.
2. The act of smiling prior to assassination is mandatory.
3. If you are doing your trade then you are not doing your job.
If you remember these points you will have the ability not to smell shit.

But suddenly the exchequer is feeling the pinch and [note before time] the calamity jane budgeterring in MoD is laid open to scrutiny, while the same kind of buffoons who have fecked up successive generations of procurement initiatives, are busy panick-managing yet another clusterfeck in order to meet Treasury funding limits.
I am glad i am outside, looking in. Let's hope somebidy starts to get a grip on the way the Army manages its resources from here on in.
Certainly feel sorry for those who are going through the mill of further drawdown/redundancy/disbandment . . .Summer grasses - all that is left of the dreams of soldiers

The thing is full of contradictions - match "the Army aim to base personnel close to a number of units so they can change post without their family needing to move home, and close enough to an urban centre for their families to have access to jobs and education and to the housing market" with basings in Leuchars, Arbroath and Kirk-fucking-liston. Jobs - not a hope; education - little choice in einepferdestadts like those; and housing - do they really think people are going to be happy with value growth in places like that? And where do the Jocks/Toms go trapping - or by removing all opportunity for tackling local totty are they hoping that the lads all turn "Greek" to increase the LBGT quota that is doubtless soon to be set by our brethren in Brussels!! And the above goes for the E Midland locations they mention too - but probably they would at least be somewhat better served and less isolated.
The thing that was so good about Edinburgh - and made many of the non-Jocks like it so much - was the fact it was a city, with real choice of jobs, education and housing. So much for the Mil Covn't - Fatty Fox and Mr Potato Head just don't get it.
But the worst thing about it is that they are selling off all the family jewels, so that when there is a real need to expand again - and there will be - there will be no capacity in the MOD estate to do so. Cunts!!
I tell you, - we have had the best of times in the Army. 150,000 strong, enough of a threat from Ivan to keep us interested and on our toes, trips to Ulster to keep us sharp, the ability to deploy an Armd Div (+), and most of Germany as a training area. I'm afraid I wouldn't join now - and the new Service/No2 Dress looks crap!!

From this I infer that Fox sees no need for the RM to continue Mountain and Arctic Warfare Training, as he knows everywhere our forces will deploy to henceforth will be flat and sunny. The prescience of the Doctor and his orange-coloured boss is worthy of great admiration.Dr Johnson: 'Any man thinks less of himself for not having been a soldier, or not having been to sea.'
Thiomas Babington Macaulay, quoted by Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fisher of Kilverstone: 'Moderation in war is imbecility!'
Douglas MacArthur: 'There is no substitute for Victory!'

With a Bde deployed on 2 ops, with 2 Bdes training to relieve them and the 5th Bde doing the sundry opfor, ceremonial etc etc tasks Dr Fox's plan is coping adequately. Until Stormont give him a bell to assist PSNI, Chile supports Argentina in a bid for Falkland oil exploitation and Taleban/AQ reassert influence in Afghanistan when it turns out the new army and police forces revert to protection racketeering and opium production as soon as the west declare victory and withdraw in 2015.
Interesting times.Politically correct doesn't mean morally correct

But it is not just 5 MRBs. It is 5 + 1 (16x) + 1 (3x). If the two other Bdes pick up the contingency task as it kicks off, it would allow the MRBs to take over as it becomes enduring. Or at least that is the theory. How we equip that lot is another buggers muddle but the theory sounds fine! Reality...who knows!
As to the exact levels of concurrency, well the devil is in the detail!"Remember - daddy and mummy's guns are not toys! They are very valuable! If you want to play, you must settle for firing your own, inexpensive weapons!"
