    Re: 19 'Shite' Brigade

I am sure that they will have a good role, it seems to me that their very "lightness" suits them well for a range of roles where they can be easily be adapted to suit the mission. UK Sp to Darfur for instance?

It's the not yet but may soon be light bde - provided we can get some kit for it and the threat doesn't necessitate operating in increasingly well-protected (armoured) vehicles......

I presume then, they have arrived with the promised Mastiff and Bulldog?

Any news on how the 2 new vehicles are performing?

The first Bulldog armoured fighting vehicles are already on the streets of Basra, and the new Mastiff vehicle will be delivered to theatre less than a year after the requirement was identified. That is a truly impressive performance by the MoD and industry.

Mate of mine was doing the upgrades on the 432 (bulldog) he said its not a bad bit of kit. Guess time will tell.

If you think about it the old 432 variants weren't that bad. I have heard that the reworked vehicles are doing just as well.

They don't get back from TELIC until June (unless they changed the OCP and no-one told them?)

Have fun anyway just beware you don't get bitten on the bum

They appear to be taking a bit of a 'shoeing' over there.

Yup, Bulldog looks good and the boys seem to like it. A huge step forward from what it was. Has anyone seen Mastiff out and about yet?

Mastiff!! By fcuk it's big, just had a good look round one today but they are not yet rolled out fully operationally, and due to it's size there are a number of H&S limitations placed upon it.

Given the fantastic work they are doing and the number of casualties this Brigade is suffering on OP TELIC could the mods consider renaming this thread? It was a mildly amusing pun when the Bde was training, but as they are now in contact seems to be ill judged. I am sure I will be met with howls of objection as we attempt to sponsor a free internet, but it is a bit insensitive to any bereaved or injured families who may look to this website for solace.

Just ignoring this logic, or hoping the issue will go away?
