Thread: OP HERRICK - Essential Pre-Deployment Reading?

At CFA's Comd Gp last week the point was raised that so much information is now being produced in support of Op Herrick that those deploying to AFGHAN are overwhelmed. LWDG want to identify what the most useful documents are (COIN doctrine, AFMs, OOPs etc) so that we can flag these up as essential reading.

If you are about to deploy, have recently deployed or are recently back, then we would really like to know what information you found most useful.
We will produce recommended reading check lists for various ranks and regts/corps, so if you can give us this detail then so much the better.

The findings will be published on the Afghan iHub of the Army Knowledge Exchange (AKX) - LF's "one-stop shop" for Land Environment operational knowledge - on the RESTRICTED RLI with hyperlinks to the recommended documents.

Just got back from herrick 10 and found 'Operational Insights - Company Level Tactics in Helmand' the most useful. Referred to it all the time in theatre as well.
