Re: Moving to Hampshire
Yes indeed, there is a lovely little village called Christmas Pie just off the Aldershot - Guildford road which looks up at the hogs Back.

As for the barracks redevelopement, you'll be waiting for a while there.
The local Nimby's have a very good group of professional objectors, who are doing exceedingly well at stopping/slowing down & generally throwing spanners into the faces of the developers plans at every opportunity.
Result.......... QE Barracks is still there & Nothing is going to happen fast!!!
There are no decent shops in Church Crookham, but there's good tabbing at Caesars Camp & Long Valley.
Fleet is overpriced & full of people who are so far up their own grinners, its laughable. The shopping center is probably the worst one in the area, bar Farnborough.
Someone mentioned Christmas Pie, again no shops, very rural, but 10x better than Fleet or Church Crookham.Klein unser Häuflein, wild unser Blut,

Re: Moving to Hampshire
I didn't know there was/is a barracks in Church Crookham. That puts me off straight away. Damn. I thought C'Crookham looked like a potential.
Swaying towards Overton/Whitchurch/Oakley area to be honest.

Church Crookham was Gurhka lland so shouldnt be as polluted as the shot!
Winchester gets my vote, little villages such as Bramdean halfway between Petersfield and Winchester are nice but no broadband or mobile signal. Maybe thats a good thing!
Lots of shooting ground down there. I work on a syndicate that bridges the M3 and the Itchen!"I'd rather be a tired old Has been, than a tired old Never Has Been!!"

Re: Moving to Hampshire
Have you looked at Tongham? I know its a little close to Aldershite and that still is the closest train station. The road links are not bad though. And it has a brewery in the village so the supply lines are safe.

Eastleigh is on the main Waterloo line - and 1hr 10 mins from nearby Southampton Parkway stn
Farnham is nice - at a price.
Depends if you want quiet country ( Alton, the Wallops etc) or posh town flat with neon street lights and pavement pizza? (Winchester/Sarfampton/Port Solent )Age is not an illness
