IMHO the Gemini is the best on the market, but then I'm biased - the wife and I have been using them for over a decade. Cheekpiece adjustment and buttplate are the best bar none; pistol grip is on a par with anything else out there. The only downside is if you prefer a narrow or rounded fore-end, in which case tough (I find the flat fore-end makes it easier to keep a consistent cant).

Set them up correctly, and they're fantastic.

As ever, you'll find a range of opinions on the subject; from the UK, Jon Hammond (Olympian) and Neil Stirton (World No.9) both use MEC stocks, but they're both Aberdonians and hence weird

[Neil has replaced his Anschutz with Feinwerkbau and now MEC in the last three years; tried the Gemini but prefers a narrow fore-end]. Dave Phelps used a Gemini to win Commonwealth Gold in 2006; there were a couple in use in the final.

You'll see a Gemini buttplate on the back of most serious rifles at GB level.

Now now, I do enjoy shooting at targets, without the discipline of constant and consistent practice then you cannot group properly and therefore are wasting your time converting live to empty. However target shooting is a means to an end! The end either being killing your enemy or filling your freezer!

Thats me! In my young days, a friend and I (about 16) would go to the local seaside where there was a decent rifle range and after afew visits, the chap used to turn the targets edge ways on and we'd split them in two shots. When I was called up for NS, I got my Marksmans Badge and when posted to my unit (46(m) HAA) I ended up in the Regt small and full bore team. Three months after demob I was in the Royal Air Force where the whole thing was repeated, guess what? they don't pay for marksman in the RAF! Another thing, I fired the Bren in training, all I got in the army was few round with horrid Sten!

I used to own a BSA Martini International MKIII .22 Rifle shooting Eley Tenex .22 RF Ammunition.
I was a member of my local Rifle Club in Cambridgeshire.
I represented my County, came 4th in my class in the Nationals and ended my shooting after Hungerford (problem re-licencing).
My final seasons average was 99.3.
My best score indoors at 25 yds was 396/400. (That's 4 cards in one night)
I only ever managed one possible outdoors at 100 yds but I gave me a buzz.
All ten shots were in a group the size of my thumbnail.
The standard I reached was N.S.R.A Mastershot.

I knew I was good when at one county shoot, both shooters either side of me had "Great Britain" flashes on their shoulders. I was in good company.

I absolutely loved the sport but I couldn't do it now due to eyesight.

If you do manage to have a go outdoors, see if you can do it with the sun behind you and low in the sky. You actually see the sun reflecting off the back of the bullet as it flies in a long wide arc towards the target. Do it in a crosswind, and it's even better.
What a sad old git you might be thinking.
To hit a target once is good, to hit it again is very good, but to hit it 10 times in a crosswind is skill.
