Re: German Sport Gun (GSG-5)
Mine doesn't cycle very well at all with subsonic ammo, so that kind of kills the point in having a can on it.
Because of the amount of ammo you need to go through to have a decent and fun shoot I've been using cheap nasty Remington thunderbolt. You can get it for about £30 - 1000 rds.
I assume the can is a replacement screw on barrel shroud with the baffles built in?<a href="http://www.mybannermaker.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i.imgur.com/O7o54.png" alt='Create your own banner at mybannermaker.com!' border=0 /></a><br>

Re: German Sport Gun (GSG-5)
The mod replaces the nasty shroud and does not affect the balance of the rifle. It attaches to the same thread port where the fake mod attaches, but with the benefit of being the real thing. Yes, it has a baffle system at one end and a screw cap at the other. Mine sometime jams, but I think this is kind of normal for semis.

Re: German Sport Gun (GSG-5)
Not a case of jamming, a case of not cycling with subsonic ammo.
What do you put through it to make it cycle?
How much was the can?<a href="http://www.mybannermaker.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i.imgur.com/O7o54.png" alt='Create your own banner at mybannermaker.com!' border=0 /></a><br>

Paid £138 for the mod. I use mainly Winchester ammo. More expensive but I have achieve consistency with it.

Re: German Sport Gun (GSG-5)
I've got 5 Quicksilver Mods on order - I'll do an ARRSE price of £130 each for them.
In terms of what subsonic ammo cycles with it the best, I quite like the RWS. It's good, and it doesn't jam very often at all. I think the return spring on the GSG might be a little on the strong side - might be modifiable, but of course, it might then slow down your fire rate, or cause jams if you try to fire too quickly - which is half the fun. A balance has to be achieved, though you may find that when all the working parts settle down a bit, it cycles better with a range of subsonic ammo.
Here's some piccies of the latest offering: (price is £633, including the tactical: fore-stock, fore-grip, scope rail, folding stock). £460 if you only want the basic rifle.

Re: German Sport Gun (GSG-5)
Just spoke to York guns. Whilst pricey on the rifles, the can they sell is £79 although out of stock, seems to sound similar to the quicksilver ones.

Re: German Sport Gun (GSG-5)
Maybe the way York Guns is making their money on their mods is by hiking up the price of the GSG-5 in the first place and then pushing their mods to new buyers as they are the importers now. The good thing is that we now have two options, whereas before we had none. I am extremely happy with my Quicksilver and would recommend it.
