Seems like a brave man Harald Mors. Just found this on the raid:

With some more ally pictures. Moving on to MG42?

You can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. However, you can bl**dy well make it wish it had!

The weird thing being that the yanks tried using the MG42 as the new squad automatic weapon but couldnt get it to chamber the longer 30.06 and then less than a decade later went backwards design wise to the FG42 for the M60, complete with stupid bipod attached at the muzzle.

The original had a monster muzzle brake because the recoil on full auto was "impressive". However the muzzle blast due to the rearward reflected gasses was horrific, especially for the bloke next to the firer. For some strange reason the weapon was never produced in large numbers. The sharply angled pistol grip was designed to let paras fire whilst still under the canopy. Now that must have been interesting. From above.

Slightly off topic, whilst in my favourite gun dealer on Saturday I had a quick drool over the weapons on display. Various models of StG 90 (Swiss Army rifle) an MP5, an AK in 223 cal (yuk) and various sawn off AR 15s. Plus a 50BMG bolt action. I drooled so much I nearly flooded the place out.
