Sir Walter Raleigh declared in the early 17th century that "whoever commands the sea, commands the trade; whosoever commands the trade of the world commands the riches of the world, and consequently the world itself." This principle is as true today as when uttered, and its effect will continue as long as ships traverse the seas."

"A democracy cannot survive as a permanent form of government. It can last only until its citizens discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority (who vote) will vote for those candidates promising the greatest benefits from the public purse, with the result that a democracy will always collapse from loose fiscal policies, always followed by a dictatorship." Spare me the Glocks they are utterly utterly unattractive and entirely soulless. Bring on the 1911s and the other stuff though!

There is little story about the Para Ord frame, many years ago Uncle Sams Army hat a Rod and Gun Club in Mainz Kastel and it was my habit to shop there every now and then. Now we all know that Amurcans don't speak English proper, so there was me in their gun shop wanting to buy the aluminium alloy frame. The request met with a blank stare and a reply that went something like "yawanwat?" Then came a voice from the rear of the shop from one of the staff who knew me "He's a Brit, he wants the arlloominum frame" No says I, the Brit wants aluminium cos that's what he asked for. Got it in the end; in defence of the first shop assistant it must be mentioned that he was an ex tanky. No one is perfect!
The L9a1 a thing of pure beauty, still can't hit the side of a very big SH*D with one!!!

....can you get one in pink?
Let us be thankful we have an occupation to fill. Work hard, increase production, prevent accidents and be happy.
Let us be thankful we have commerce. Buy more. Buy more now. Buy. And be happy.

Because, of course, it is clear from the statistics that in the last hundred years or so, Ulster folk have been much less likely to go around topping each other with handguns, than folk in Scotland and England.

    O! Wait!!

    Politicians.

    Gotta love 'em.

I have never had a relationship with anything other than the general issue Browning Hi-power, with which i became quite proficient.

Machines are - by definition - soulless. That's what you need. A tool which - in the moment of crisis - behaves exactly as required, as you trained for, and as you expected, surely?

If I wanted a car that had soul, I'd buy a classic Alfa Romeo, and learn to live with the prospect of unpredictable no-start mornings.

I'm more of a VW man: if only everything in life was as reliable as . . .

JJH: Hope you've got at least one BHP on your books.

I can't even buy a replica, unless I join (and participate in the acitivities of) an airsoft club - I mean, ferchrissakes - it's bad enough getting old, ugly and fat.

The Glock trigger leaves a lot be desired. And it is kind of homely looking.

However, for sheer reliability and toughness I don't know of anything that can beat it.

As long as it is .45acp I don't really care about the color.
