If laminate is your thing, these aren't bad at all. A few of the guys here have bought stuff from them and it all looks good.

They can be tailored, adjusted to suit your needs. Probably the cheapest bespoke option there is.

lamanate gun stocks laminate gun stocks U.K. Make a good rifle a great rifle

Also if you fancy doing something different to blueing, colour hardening can look pretty Gucci, tons of info online about it, alternatively St Ledger & Sons in Brum do a banging job:

Chap here, got a thumbhole one in blue, all let in for his home made 700 'sniper style' rifle, for under £250. It had to be specially designed because he is fucking massive. He just sent off the action and barrel measurements and the stock dimensions and they machined it up for him.

They come unfinished mind so you will still need to get the sand paper and potions out.

Edited to add: I think his is based on the 'prone.'

Sound like a viable alternative to Boyds as they never seem to have what I want although they do solid wood as well as laminate!

Like taking an orbital to a stock?

The metal prep so far has involved removing the paint with nitromors and then the remaining blue with Jenolite rust remover. The heavier scratches were cleaned up with 180 grit wet 'n' dry on a cork rubbing block before going through the grades to 2500 with a final polish with Autosol and felt mop in a dremel.

So far nothing too technical, it just takes time to get a decent finish. I'll sort some pics out as it currently stands this evening, the blueing I'll probably do next week when I have a little down time. I'll be using relatively weak acid so I expect the rusting phases to take some time.

Actually apart from the very special ones it looks like they have bought up all of the specials and clearance from Boyds!!!!!!!
