    Yanks raffling off surplus M24s

Almost makes me sick! What would the likelihood of something similar happening with the L96 be? Pretty much nonexistant, I guess.. :(

They do get sold and sometimes do end up in UK private hands, it depends where the best market is.

Don't think there is much chance of getting your hands on L96 - Duty rumour is they will soon be back on the racks in armouries.

I did see an L96 in Fultons last year, it wasn't for sale and I think it came their way from Warminster for a collection somewhere.

I heard a duty rumour the other day that someone bought 4 for £40 each. Sold two to Fultons and they want £6k each for em. The guy relating the tale said he'd spoken to Fultons about it but they were keeping schtum about it.

you can get them, but the cost new is a fortune. second hand ones here asking for £3500 and £5200 ( < ouch!)

guntrader.co.uk - Accuracy International 7.62x51 AW Bolt Action Second Hand Rifle

guntrader.co.uk - Accuracy International .308 AW02 Bolt Action Second Hand Rifle

if fultons are asking 6k for a Milsurp disposal then that confirms a lot of things i think :/

hopefully if more are released it will be to several dealers, so the monopoly players can bore off.

    Ooooh shiny.

I see that Fultons have an L42 with all it's bits for £6,000...old vs new, the M24 would seem better value.

However...I think I'd still drop for the L42 if I had that kind of wonga to spend.

I could interest myself for a .338 Lapua version or at a pinch for the .300 Win Mag variant. A pig calibre with a bit of reach and a nice loud smack at the other end is nice to have early in the year when the pig go searching for Roe kids in the Rape accross the valley.

I use .375 H&H currently with a light silver tipped ball. The bog standard M24 would be unlikely to perform better than my Dragunov.

I'm pretty sure the ones you linked to weren't 'quite' L96s.. Fultons can charge 6k because of the rarity, even though you could get a brand new AI AW for that price..

Depending on the price though it could be sent to someone like Dave at Valkyrie Rifles to have him work on it. Or sell it to Fultons.. Of course, you'll cry when you see the mark up they put on it but it'd probably sit on their wall for quite a while!

The L42 would be very nice though!

I purchased the police version last November, AE MkIII, it's almost the same as the AW but differs in the bonding and shape of the reciever to the chassis.

I chose a 20" barrel which now comes with a muzzle break so big it would tell an M109 to fcuk off!

Sad to say I haven't shot it yet, I ordered some American glass for it (Vortex PST 4-16x50) which I'm told will be shipped after the Shot Show.

The intention is to shoot it in the Practical Optic glass for Civilian Service Rifle at Bisley, I got pissed off being the only competitior with a No.4, or latterly an L39 with No.4 service sights.

I shall post a picture in the Gun Porn thread when it's up and running.
