i think because this is the us export version of the gunsite scout and no flash hider ruger has felt no need to leave the barrel threaded.
shame some shooters may want the need to fit a moderator.as for the mag that the rifle use are ai .It's shame it don't fit m14 mags as I have some,it would have made it cheaper for me.(ai mags are single stack so look as big as a 20 round m14 mag).

Was reading American Riflemans article on it and there were 2 initial choices during development for Mag. One was use an M14 Mag but it presented problems, the other was an AI type magazine. Article states they went with a Propreital design

From My perspective its ugly as hell and not very good at what its supposed to fill as a niche. Bbl too short to my liking, would have liked to see a 18" tube and a 20" as options. The laminated stock replaced with a synthetic

Ok I spent 10 mins on the importers stand yesterday evening deciphering the price list and checking one out. They will be threaded as standard soon and wont have the flash eliminator in the UK but nothing to stop you making an aftermarket version. I also have the price and its around a grand retail, I may be able if I get an order in for several to lower the price by cutting the dealer mark up but would need 4 rifles to make it worth my while. PM me if interested. I cant do anything over the VAT.
First impressions are of a pointable rifle but I would remove the rail and fit the standard rings provided, also I am not a fan of the polymer type trigger guard and the delay seems to have been due to magazine development. Its a basic M77 with a 16 inch barrel (I recall the gunsite test write ups about 10 or more years ago) and a plastic trigger guard with an expensive mag. For stalkers you would probably flog the 10 round mag on asap to the practical wallahs to fund a 5 rounder.
I should have access to one next week for testing, fingers crossed.
Chatting to the rep it seems detachable mags will be standard options on all future M77 centre fire models, when I couldnt say but the mag relaes and clicking back into place is good.

I've fitted a leopoled vxII to the rifle and used the rings it came with.
was going to do some groups on sunday but had to call the shoot off due to foul weather. i've included some pics.
That's more or less the rifle I tried, only without the bipod and with a clean muzzle. Seated or prone it kicked like a mule in .308 with the heavier Norma Vulkan round. Standing it was bearable but I didn't need another rifle for driven shoots.

Hi gents, just noticed this. I had a cabby with the Ruger earlier in the year, pinging plates at 100 yards. Although I am not a bolt action afficionado I do like Rugers and if I had to drop my M4 clone and pick a bolt action rifle I would probably have one of these.

The large chap in the pictures, is not me, he is a mate who has many years of shooting/hunting experience and he was impressed with the Ruger.

I have some Ruger hats and a shirt that the company sent to me after the event. If anyone wants them they can have them for the cost of postage from the USA - the shirt was priced up at $50 and the hats go for around $15 each so for just postage they'd be bargains. I'll dig them out and put a pic up.
