The Sultan of Omans body guard had SMGs in the 1980ies. The Sultans personal BGs had gold plated ones with the rest of the families BGs having sliver plated ones. Bit of a tel tale but looked good.

Whenever I wonder whether being rich would make me happy and conclude that it wouldn't, it's usually because I've forgotten about toys like these, then again, why would you want to do this sort of thing to an Astra?

Back in the 70s there was a place in Tehran that did some very Gucci things to Mauser rifles, Broomhandels, and Lugers, they did the full stocked carbine version of the of the pistols heavily engraved with precious stones, diamonds,emeralds, and mother of pearl enlayed in the woodwork, more jewellery than firearm and costing a fortune, cant remember the name of the company, but it might have been actually part of Mauser,

The Royal Armouries have a couple of diamond and ruby encrusted pistols, a 1911 and an S & W that were left at a gunsmiths after the pistol ban.

Very nice! (if you like that sort of thing..!)

(but apparantly slippery when wet according to Sir Burton Dasset..)
