Man shot at Leicestershire shooting ground
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/l...re/8462587.stm
Not good news, either for his family or for shooters at large. The police haven't declared it as suspicious so odds are he wasn't deliberately shot, thankfully. Do you think he was depressed and decided to end it all on the firing point, or victim of a tragic accident?A man has been found with fatal gun shot wounds at a gun club in Leicestershire.
The man, who is thought to be in his 50s, was shot at the Kibworth Shooting Ground Club off Harborough Road at about 1400 GMT.
Police have not confirmed if the death is suspicious. The area has been cordoned off while forensic investigations are carried out.
The victim has not yet been identified by police.
An ambulance was called to the scene just after 1400 GMT.
The club is set in 30 acres of rural land, about 10 miles south of Leicester.
It has about 700 members who have use of facilities including target ranges and clay pigeon shooting.

Nope, just curious to what people think. Usually when people die because of legally-held firearms being misused, it causes knee-jerk reactions from the government. If this bloke was shot by somebody else, accidentally or otherwise, then surely we can expect "something to be done", no?

StudentFW, There is an astounding lack of logic in your posts. If the matter is still being investigated, it's a little early, even for knee-jerk reactions. As to what people think on here, what has that to do with government responses?
Did it happen with a legally held fire-arm?
Was he shot by somebody else, was it accidental, what something do YOU expect to be done?Politically correct doesn't mean morally correct

If you banned knee-jerk reactions to partially understood opinions and developing events, ARRSE would be a very little used site! :D

Re: Man shot at Leicestershire shooting ground
Shot at Kibby a fair few times - from what I've seen it's very well run with plenty of staff/instructors about.
Each shotgun area is surrounded by a berm and all in all it's pretty open visibilty, but to "cross shoot" would be far fetched if not impossible.
Either deliberate or a very sad ND.
Kibworth is a good place and it's sad to see this happening here (or anywhere).

Off thread a bit, but can I assume from your moniker that you fondly remember Seaton Barracks, Crownhill, Plymouth?

Leicestershire Police have now released the following statement.
Mr Thud has subsequently vowed to hunt that pesky rabbit, he would have got away with it, the first time, if it wasn't for some snot nosed brats. The victim 'Elmur Thud' was apparently hunting rabbits, In the course of the chase, he was outwitted by said rabbit, and suffered a shotgun wound, burnt face and shredded clothing.
The Janitor was unavailable for comment. Her breasts were like ripe strawberries, but much bigger, a completely different colour, not as bumpy, and without the little green things on top.

Can we assume that Jessica Fletcher was also in attendance, and Columbo is due to investigate the crime scene???

Nope, because Danger Mouse has assumed Gold Command and he wants Roger Rabbit on the case.

I don't know where your intel comes from? But i can catagorically state that DM is in the Arctic! Apparently, Baron Greenback is trying to usurp the Russians claim to the territory, and cause trouble between us and them. So, he and Penfold have been despatched to thwart his plans and save the day. You know what they say?...Wherever there is danger he'll be there!!!

Cars kill 3500 every year. Shooting - not many. We 'accept' car related death in a rather strange disconnection with the event. There is the potential for an anti-shooting reaction to this.
