german training round. they made a special bolt for the HK91 (G3) This round was intended for marksman training and will not cycle in a semi-automatic rifle. They also leave a terrible residue in your rifle. Anywhere from 3500 to 4700 fps with a 10 grain bullet. Umlat made the bolt which helps cycle the round properly. Surprisingly flat shooting at 100 yards.

Agree about the Surgeon, I have seen a couple over here now, nice kit!

Be careful which tape you put on your rifle! Not all gaffers tapes are the same. This is the industry standard over here. It is 13mil thick and much better for this application. It is used on lighting and other high temperature applications which make it perfect for a rifle. It puts all the other tapes to shame.

So you canīt own a weapon for self-defence in UK, right? What about IDPA or IPSC shooting, can you purchase a pistol for that?

you cant purchase a weapon just for self defence, there has to be a 'sporting purpose'

a lot of shooters from other nations are quite surprised at how much shooting there is in the UK, and just what we can shoot with ( the UK has some of the shortest legal length requirments going, barrel length - 300mm, and over-all length - 600mm, define 'pistol'),

also in the UK, practically all shooters are active sportmen, they shoot and spend a lot more on thier hobbies than most others who are just firearms owners.

Gun ownership in England and Wales: get the figures in your police force | News | guardian.co.uk

145 thousand rifle owners (Fac cert) and 580 thousand shotgun (sgs cert) owners out of a pop of 62 mil is not a significant minority to be ignored. and these numbers are growing by 4% per year at the moment. there are 3201 RFD's (firearms dealers).
theres a lot of new people getting into shooting, its the major growth sport in the UK right now.

a bit of bad knee-jeck legislation has not killed the sport. it will be repealed.

and we will be getting handguns back in the UK.

    please sign the petition.

I had some Swiss guy tell me that sport shooting per se had been banned in the UK. I told him it was news to me cos I'd been doing it there till I left, then at least once practically every year when visiting...

BTW Bushranger, the one thing you CANNOT own a pistol (as normally understood) in the UK for is sport shooting.

Historical collection / research yes, humane dispatch yes, target shooting as sport no.
