Here is a really nice backup pistol that you can't get over there. This is pretty much the best backup on the market. I've seen only a handful of used ones at around $800usd. Hope to have one this year.

Maybe the .380. The 9x19 might be a little *too* much...

Recently fired a 380 Ruger LCP - 9.4oz, locked-breech. Surprisingly not as lively as I thought.

I *heart* my mint 1965 FN 1910 though (library picture, not mine):

Before my father died in 1990 (he was born in 1921) he owned an old revolver. I remember it vividly. Several years ago I believe it was stolen in a burglary. There had been a break in at my mother's house and the pistol went missing right after that. It was a Smith & Wesson Victory model in .38 special. My father had told me he had carried that pistol with him when he participated in carrier strikes in the Battle of Okinawa and in the torpedoing of the Japanese Battleship Yamato on April 7, 1945. I wish I could find it. I may simply purchase a replacement from GunBroker.com but I wish I had the original. Maybe it will turn up one day. Not likely. Such a shame.

Not made by S&W it isn't. Saturday Night Specials are low quality guns. So-called because it is said that they were popular for suicide on Saturday night. In fact an earlier term for a cheap and nasty gun was "suicide special". Such usage meant that they only had to be able to handle one shot before blowing up in the user's hands. They can be any size, action or calibre but break-open mechanisms in .38 (S&W) were popular at one time. Nowadays there are lots of self-loaders that would fit the term.

Fella at my shooting club had one of these, complete with batterd leather holster - said that he found it while clearing an old house. Neither saw him or anyone else fire it.

The gold cup national match 1911 is something else! The ellison adjustable rear sight and the beautiful fit and finish make it one of my favorite pistols on the planet. The series 80, not so much...

Nor should he or anyone else in England, Scotland or Wales. It only benefits from obsolete calibre status if kept as an antique - otherwise its Section 5.

On that subject, does anyone in the UK have a spare standard rear sight for an M1911 (not A1). I have commercial Government Model on Section 7(3) that desperately needs one.

    Accuracy International AE MkIII

This one is in 7.62mm with a 20" barrel, Vortex 4-16x50 PST Viper scope FFP and a muzzle break that would tell an M107 to fuck off!
I'm busy covering the scope with sniper tape at the moment to keep it from getting scratched, or making it look a bit more ally than it really is. Take your pick!
