31-12-2010, 17:23 #461I live in the People's Republic of Kalifornia. We have very odd rules here. Then you'll say 'What about the 30round mags on the 5.56mms?', and I'll say 'Look up 10/30 Magazines'Only a 10 shot mag for the SLR?
When travelling to a free state, such as Nevada, normal capacity magazines are easily used.
Right now, I'm feeding it whatever I can get my hands on. I have a feeling the South Africans fired so many rounds through it, I'm happy just to feel the recoil, effect on target isn't too big an issue. May get into reloading, 7.62 is getting pricey.

The difference between Infantrymen and Cavalrymen is the Cavalrymen get to die faster, for we ride into battle!

Me too, still working on a 1000 box of throwaway at the moment.
Never reloaded for a powerful semi-auto rifle before, bit concerned that the cycle may cause problems. 2 issues I know about are bullets being forced back into the case if not seated tight enough or crimped (never tried that), and match quality primers going off too easy if the firing pin bounces a bit.

Having loaded for my Garand and Mini 14 for several years, I never bothered with crimping bullets, I settle for a good tight fit. Match quality primers in a military semi auto? If you have too much money, I do know of a very good cause, where it would be much appreciated!

Not a rifle, but goes well with the SLR. This Browning, like me is ex RAF, although it has been modded with Pachmayr grips. Somewhere within the depths of my cellar I still have the issue black plastic and wooden grips. It thrives on a diet of 125 LRN bullets propelled by 5.7 grns of 3N37, although N 340 or even Hercules Unique will do the biz.

Latest rifle
Just collected this from North west Custom Parts. Nice to shoot ! Just need to order the .22 upper now !
Upper - 16.5 inch in .223 - made by Spikes tactical in USA ( crap name i know ! ) as is the full lower and 12 inch float rail. The stock is made by Troy Industries in the USA and supplied / imported by Wayne at NWCP.
Decided i wanted the original look and feel of the rifle hence no side cocking and using the rear T lever.Last edited by safetyman; 02-02-2011 at 17:33.

I get your point about the original look of the rifle, but it must be really annoying having to lift your head every time you need to cock it. You don't have that problem with the old bolt actions!
Excerpt from The Four Slappers of the Apocalypse.
And when I had opened the fourth beer, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and her that sat on him was the wife, and Hell followed with her......
