Re: Mr Vice
I wrote this one for you
For the delicious food we thank the chefs so fine
The mess manager we thank for the excellent wine
For the splendid laid table we thank the staff
But if they think we are tipping
They are having a laugh, are you having a laugh. (Ricky Gervais style)
but it does not mean we are going steady or anything
I was just bored

ORIGINS OF MR VICE
Greetings ladies and gents.
I have just been appointed PMC and would like to know if any of you fellow ARssers can shed any light on the tradition of Mr/Madam Vice.
We have a large number of junior Sgts' and when I appoint one as Vice I would like to be in a position to explain why we have MR/Madam Vice.
Any GENUINE help would be greatly appreciated'There was plan Baldrick......unfortunatelty it was Bolloc*%ks!'

Re: ORIGINS OF MR VICE
most junior bod gets it every time, same person could be doing it for months if they are unlucky, same person does each toast, theres only enough space at the end of the table for one!
I was Mr Vice once and couldnt eat my meal, did the toasts then projectile vomited. Next day I discovered that most of the unit had come down with food poisoning from a Norgie of rice pudding on the ranges. Nice!

Re: ORIGINS OF MR VICE
I think that it's history is wrapped up in the role.
The junior member is appointed Mr Vice in order to allow him to grasp the roles and responsibilities of being a mess member.
The name has been shortened to Mr Vice and may have originally have been something alongs the lines of Mr Vice Presiding Member, or Mr Vice PMC/PEC etc. His duties were probably to fulfill the main role if someting happened... (as in President/Vice President), but in time that has just been dropped to being the butt of all things nasty...
Couldn't find anythig official, and this is off the top of my head, so whatever you do, don't quote me at your function...

Re: ORIGINS OF MR VICE
PMC = President of the Mess Committee
Mr Vice is a corruption of Vice President of the Mess Committee.
Not difficult really. :DI write down everything I want to remember. That way, instead of spending a lot of time trying to remember what it is I wrote down, I spend the time looking for the paper I wrote it down on.
