I wish you would teach these bloody scientists a thing or two - they are all idiots, comparably.
Sigh…
What's the weather going to be in 7 days time?
Answer, they can only have a best guestimate and it's often wrong…
And yet, people like AlGore, the High Priest of Climate Change is wittering on about measuring temperature differences of .2 of a degree over a period of decades and using that to predict with absolute certainty what will happen in 50 years time.
And how's that new Ice Age the experts were predicting in the 80's coming on?

Oh, and really - your argument is that because the weathermen are a bit crap global warming doesn't exist and isn't cuased by humans? THAT is your big argument?
Really mate, you need to put down the Jeremy Clarkson book and step away from the internet.

It isn't caused by humans Bazz.
Go take a long hard look at the figures, mankinds imact is miniscule.

Sigh indeed. Same ol' argument again Squire?
You're dealing with quite different beasts there, weather and climate, both physically and statistically. In some ways it's easier to predict general trends than localised highly detailed patterned. Believe it or not the British Met Office forecasts are amongst the best in the world, do you have any idea how difficult it is to predict where and when it will rain over a 5 km or less grid box to within an hour, given all the other variables? On the other hand, if you have an entire global climate model and just change one thing, such as co2 concentration, general trends in other variables are relatively easy to spot. I'm not a huge fan of GCMs, they're full of caveats, but fortunately there's observational data that points in a similar direction.
Incidentally, Al Gore gets on my tits.
Also, if you sit and think about wtf a 'global average temperature' means, esp if sitting on either the south pole or equator, it doesn't really mean anything. Unfortunately it's a numeric used to communicate general information a vastly complex system.
Other predictions for the year 2000 by doom and gloomers over the previous 30 or so years…
All the worlds oil would run out by 2000
The population of the Earth would grow so huge it would be standing room only and the world would be ravaged by famines
All the worlds fresh water rivers would be so polluted by 2000, we'd all die of thirst
The Earths atmosphere would be so polluted by 2000, we'd be living on a desertified Earth with a run away greenhouse effect.
All the worlds oceans would be so polluted they would be dead and so would all the fish
All the worlds trees would be cut down
The hole in the ozone layer would spread and we'd all be fried by radiation
Not forgetting the one about so many people dying of swine flu that there'd be bodies piled up in the street and we'd be buldozing corpses into open pits (which is something along the lines of what the governments 'chief medical advisor' came out with a few months ago). There's always some load of toss that's gonna kill us all if we don't do x/y/z.
An excuse for tax, that's all. How does doubling my road tax for instance, reduce the temperature of the planet? A load of old fucking shite so it is.

A government scientist was on here saying it is. You are saying it isn't.
