    Can I ask a really daft question, which honestly isn't meant to cause an argument or pissing contest, just a question.

    Looking at the dates that construction began and that it was operational, Why was there a need for an FOB at San Carlos if by that point we'd already taken Goose Green? Was the airfield there not suitable for Harrier operations, or was there some other limitation on its use?

    A little bit off thread but on one of my tours of Belize,the head honcho out there was rumoured to be the guy who dropped that harrier,known locally as Bang-out-Bob,don't know how true this is.
