Thinking of joining IT/COMMS
Hi, I'm New to the website, and seeking information on IT and Comms.
I'm 25 and Have recently Handed in my application to join, and really like what i have been told, found out about this area of the army.
Can anyone give me any real information about this trade, I understand there may be many different jobs that fall under this title but any insight would be of help.
- Is it a good career Choice?
- Pay and benefits of this trade?
- Career advancement possibilities? will I be stuck at Lance Corporal for 22 years or possibly end up as a WO1
Any information, good or or bad would be appreciated.
Cheers.

Is what a good career choice?
Benefits of what trade?
You'll be a Lance Jack for 22 years.
Might help if you narrow it down to what trade you actually want to do.When you're faced with trouble,
When beset by doubt,
Run around in circles,
Wave your arms and shout.

One of the worst things about joining the Royal Signals is the overwhelmingly gay cap badge.

Jimmy can be as gay as he likes. I don't give a shit if he wants to wear stockings and heels in his spare time, with "fuck me" written on his back in lipstick.
He's got me into a good career in telecoms, so thank you Jimmy.
You can keep your 17/21L death's head, RE fat badge, RLC ludicrous badge, and WG leeks thank you. If Jimmy's a tranny, that's fine by me.

It's better than a bloody lightning/pony combination at least.
When you're faced with trouble,
When beset by doubt,
Run around in circles,
Wave your arms and shout.

I'm still not sure exactly which role I would like in this area.
Possibly Driver Comms specialist.
Artillery It systems operator.
Communication systems operator.
weapons intelligence analyst.

have you looked at the jobs section on the army website? or ask your recruiter for more information on them.

I have and will continue to find any information about the jobs I'm interested in.
What I'm Really looking for is an insight from people who are currently serving in these roles or have been.
The recruiters are really helpful but they are all Ex infantry, so cant offer as much about these jobs.
Cheers.

I'm a cs eng. I drink loads of brews, surf t'web, look at a tv full of green lights, when they go red I go for a shit leaving it for someone else to ignore and I get paid a shit load for the privilege!
Hope that helps.
