I seem to recall MOD being told nearly a decade ago that tarting up old mk8's for the 45's was a silly and not very cost effective idea and look were we are. Still, musn't grumble, we could have ended up with OTO SR 76's like the 'Euro 45's'.

Still, it would be nice to finally have a 5", peferably the OTO one with the erpgm's. Now, if only we can get together some more pennies from behind the sofa and delete the gym space on the 45's.....

CVF and its mighty air wing of 6 planes has only started gutting the Fleet of capabilities. Just you wait until it really gets into its stride. Its become the RNs very own sacred white elephant eating it out of house and home.
its not Force 2020 I worry about, its 2040 when we we're down to 1 aircraft carrier, 3 half sized Trident replacement boats and a handful of OPV's
