Hi all,
Sorry for the mass message to you all. I received a message from a girl who is trying to trace her Dad. She has asked me to contact members of the group in the hope that someone may know him etc:
Obviously this is a wee bit of a touchy subject as the guy concerned may not want to be contacted. But I said I would ask anyway, so if anyone knows the guy, if he's still around, maybe he's passed away, or he's on the group and would like to be contacted by her ?. Just message me back and I will pass on her email addy.
Here's the details I received from here.
" I am looking to trace my father James Green who i think served with the 24 field ambulabce service as a radio op. I know he was based at Moscow Army Barracks in 1982 and based at Gaza barracks approx 84/85. Would it be possible to email your members to see if they can help? I have been searching for over 15 years and i am on the verge of giving up, this is my last shot. When it comes to a description i know he was dark haired with olive skin and i would imagine he would be in his late 50's or early 60's. I really appreciate your help, Many Thanks, Clare"
Cheers Folks,
Marty

Re: DESPERATELY SEEKING.
I served in Malaya 63/65 with an Aust infantry battalion, our next door neighbours in Terendak were Lcpl Les Stanley (3 Tpt Sqn RCT, just after they had changed from being 3 Coy RASC) and his wife Janice, and my wife and Janice became very good friends. we often wonder where they are, what they are doing, and both will be retired by now as we are.
Does anybody know Les or Janice, know where they are, Janice came from Coventry before being married, if anybody know them, send me a PM please, we would love to establish contact again after all these years (about 45 years in fact)

I wouldn't say I am desperately seeking; but would like to know what happened to RLC Scully Troop 1993 summer intake recruits training at Pirbright ?
There as a total fruit cake called Simon Anderson from London who was shown the back door out for having a mental break down and thinking that the instructors were 'controllers' and we the recruits were 'ants' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another recruit did a 'collection' of paracetamol from around the troop.
Needless to say the RMP questioned us all !!!
Happy days !!!
NCO's were CPL Young, Robson, Mackay & SGT Williams. TC was LT JohnLast edited by chunkygucci; 05-06-2011 at 12:05.

I served the dinner bat a NATO officers mess function at the garrison officers mess, Hohne some time in the winter of 1968. I would love to meet the arrogant arrsehole of an Italian general who thrust his hat at me to take to the cloakroom and nearly knocked me over. What I would love to know is: Did he have SKCOLLOB written in blue marker pen on his forehead when he got home that night?

I would like to meet the RMP Sgt who pulled me for speeding in the Spartan, in the middle of God knows where, his first words were "Your ass is grass and I'm a fcuking Lawnmower"
He soon beat a hasty retreat when my Comd. who was a Major, joined in the conversation
and told him in which direction to fcuk off, sharpish, like.
