we are the duisburg rambling club,
we ramble round from pub to pub,
To die of thirst we have no fear
as long as we've a pint of beer.

    I could go on...............

Served with Shiny 7, 75/78. Tidworth, Aldershot , Moscow Camp. A great lot.
Remembered this RCT lad who got out while we were in Tidworth. Got himself a job as a truck driver, one night he had a consignment and was within 30 miles of Tidworth. Eager to have a pint with his old mates, and show off his big rig at the same time, he unhitched the container trailer in a layby, and bobtailed it down to the Squadron Club. When he got back to the layby ,a couple of hours later, the trailer had gone AWOL.

    And should go on...............

So raise your glass and raise it high

I have looked at some of the comments on this thread, they have taken me back to my youth and they made me smile!

I wonder if any ex 3 ADTR out there can remember:

Going on outside areas and actually picking things up.
The yellow bridge at Wedau Lakes, (and did you jump?).
Sports Afternoons drinking Konig Pilsner and sunbathing at Wedau Lakes, while admiring topless German girls.
Only having 4 washing machines in the Unit; therefore everyone piling down Helga's on a Saturday.
72 hr Charity Discos at Rheindahlen.
Toeing the line when booking in and out of camp at the Guard Room.
Wearing coveralls on the vehicle park, because your Sect Comd made you.
Life before Health and Safety at Work.
    Exercise Medicine Man.
    Rats in the block.
Being in the WRAC block at Duss Airport Camp.
Being in the WRAC block at Duss Airport Camp during an RMP raid.
The Big Apple pub in Duss Altstadt.
    Duss Chicken.
    Falling asleep on a tram.
Not buying a car because you couldn't afford it.
When you got picked up by the young Regt Ord Offr in a TCV from the Polizei Shop.
The smell of sulphur in the air and an orange sky.
Having to do a cadre course, ie JMQC, BEFORE being selected for promotion.

They were my most formative years, Sept '87 to Jan '93.
    Someone take these dreams away,
That point me to another day,
    A duel of personalities,
    That stretch all true realities.
