When I said common sense approach I meant it in the context of a direct entry officer. Not down to Earth in the sense of being like a character from Phoenix nights, sitting in the corner of a mess, staring wistfully across the road, regaling bored young subalterns with tales of "when I was RSM * Tpt Regt" whilst wondering if anyone, after 20 years, has seen through your facade.

.....oh and he was too senior.
