He sounds like a top bloke - a very heartfelt RIP from a former rifleman"If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or he is a Gurkha" - Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw MC

Re: Farewell and RIP SSgt Oz Schmid.
Here's to sharing the last rolly under a basha, to cleaning each others gats while we made the wets, for the tin of compo paste when in hospital and to getting pissed out of our heads as often as possible and never taking it all too seriously!
I'll miss you Oz
Rest In Peace

Re: Farewell and RIP SSgt Oz Schmid.
Oz and I shared many a smoke on the bench overlooking the canal in Jackson. He once pulled over 30 complex IEDs off Rte SPARTA in a single day. He was a legend in every sense of the word; utterly competent, brave and a top soldier.
I echo Colonel Rob's words - he was a huge favourite among the 2 RIFLES BG and I feel privileged to have served alongside hiim.

RIP
It came off in me hand chief!
If I had wanted to burn, collect sand in everything I own, overheat, run around, shoot things with something less than 4.5inch caliber, wear green/sand coloured baggy outfits, live more than 16m above Sea Level I would have joined the Army.
