Actually Exceptional, High and Yes are the promotable grades. Developing or No will not earn a promotion and would not be filtered into the board.
Not seen Exceptional yet or a No either.
I have persoanlly seen 3 people with a developing grade get promoted.
    This should not happen.

Developing is a negative recommendation and people should not be filtered into the board for promotion.

SO1 Soldiers (I know that you are watching)....this might be worth a look as if what has been said is true then those selected for promotion with a Dev should be de-selected.

Stacker1...get me a PM with details (if indeed you can) and I'll pass to the man that knows.

Can a mod vouch for General Malaise please?

It will take me about a week to get the details
Come on Melchy old boy. How about it?

    Aye,

I'll vouch for him. Gen Mal is who he says he is.

    Come on Stacker.

Send details and I shall do my damnedest to get to the bottom of your allegations. I shall await your PM so that the investigation can commence. We'll keep the results to ourselves, perhaps involving Melchett, before we go public.

Melchy - thanks for the vote of confidence. I owe you.

    Sent the first one.
I'd be very interested to see how this fat, downgraded, exercised excused, tour dodging alcoholic got his first.

I'll also have the other two's details by the end of the week.

Good effort. I hope, for the sake of the APC, that you are wrong. That said, if there's been a mistake then I know that SO1 Soldiers will square it away. Thanks for the PM. Will be back to you (and the rest of ARRSE) as soon as we get a result (mindful of OPSEC).

Just an observation, but is this really the correct forum for this sort of thing? Being an avid arrser, I'm all for the site but I really can't see any benefit in this particular subject being in the public arena. Should the Corps be showing everyone else it's shitty knickers? How does it look ? Two 'nomme de plumes' squaring away another soldiers potential de-selection? If the person concerned is not eligible (for whatever reason)then have the balls to tell your CoC RCMO etc. I don't know your OC but I imagine that if you have genuine concerns then surely (by virtue of the fact that he/ she is a Maj in a command appointment) they have at least got the remit to listen to and investigate your concerns. If not then why aren't you approaching your Adj, Regt 2ic, CO etc Alternatively how would yo like to find out that your career, performance and livlihood was discussed by 2 unknown individuals on a website that is at best frowned upon? I know I wouldn't like it. It won't take a lot for someone to put 2&2 together should this little 'tete a tete' bear fruit. Discussion on arrse & fat blurk getting deselected (or whatever) = someone claiming something or other in a court of law. Like I said just an observation. Arrse is fantastic but it is not and should not become a management tool.

No-ones name will be published publically, I think I can safely say that anyone who has served in a main RLC unit that this kind of thing has been going on for years. I frequently mention the fact that non deployable fat twats are getting promoted to everyone I can, nothing seems to be happening except young fit lads are having to shoulder the majority of work.

Like I said, just an observation! Have you spoken to CoC about the problem? If you have and nothing has happened then I am sure that Gen Mal can square you away with his telephone number or you could even do it by PM but (IMO) it shouldn't be hung out for all to see. Like the man says "talk to the head"

I said several posts ago I did talk to the head directly about this problem.

How can P7 home only, fat privates get promoted?

    Re: THE DRLC THREAD

Last time I looked (ages ago mind) medical grades & Body Mass Index's weren't included on your SJAR. Bearing this in mind, the board cannot know that 'Pte Sore Back Pie-Gobbler' is the big fat waste of space that you clearly bracket him as. Whilst I agree that big fat biffs are not exactly soldierlike in appearance or bearing is it possible that he/ she might just be performing at the required level for promotion in all other aspects of their trade. Could it possibly be the case that there is more to being in the RLC than just being able to run fast, do loads of press ups and look pleasing to the Sarn't Major's eye? On the other side of the coin I have seen exceptionally fit soldiers who demonstrate guardsman like ability when it comes to their turnout, get promoted when it is abundantly clear that they are incapable of performing in even the most basic function of their chosen CEG. Now as much as it pains me to be sensible on arrse (Mov Cons are crap by the way) is it not more acceptable to employ someone in the next rank who is capable of understanding and applying the fundaments of their trade but happens to demolish pastry based snacks at every NAAFI break or would you prefer the individual who cannot grasp even the basics of walking and talking at the same time but can run very quickly and has an aesthetically pleasing appearance a la Corps Dress Regs? I know which one I would rather have in my team. Remember now, that weight can be lost and injuries can be healed, with all the will in the world I cannot make people more intelligent than they already are. I can assist them in being less stupid but I cannot increase their capacity to learn.

If the individual you are referring to, happens to be a big fat Pet Op with man tits, please accept my apologies you are indeed correct and are to resume whinging immediately.
