Re: RIP TA
I'm sure, and agree with the sentiment. But what I also meant is that it is strangely sort of council-speak and would have rightly been red penned to f*** by my former OC. However I also see it was a more delicate way of saying "What f***ing business is it of yours?"

I do my own red penning, and I thought it was fine.

At times like this, I'm glad to be a sociopath and, therefore, incapable of caring about other peoples opinion of me.

Otherwise, you big nasty chaps might have hurt my "feelings" - that is the word you humans use, yes?Democracy is not for the people.

Re: RIP TA
Agree totally, last few SNCO/WO PSI we have had have seen TA as an inconvenience to their Golfing sessions in the afternoon, these guys now going to be involved in recruiting for the Sqn

Re: RIP TA
This may have already been stated in this thread (47 pages!), in which case feel free to delete, but recruit training will continue and will be paid. The pay stops thereafter.

Re: RIP TA
They, the typical labour government have always done down the military, yet they always want them to do their bidding.
If there is no TA training, how do they aforesaid labour government, expect a turn to readiness, and I suspect many TA wallahs will say a big no to staying in the TA.
I spent 11 years in the TA and whilst yes it was fun there was a serious side to it and if you look at all conflicts since the TA was implemented they, like it or not, filled the gaps, and admirably as well.
Also many ex regulars find it a way to become civilians again especially in time of conflict.
I guess that next FLT's will be expected to make and find their own weapons, like catapaults and french arrows. Of course there will be no training!!
Come on GB stop extracting the oui oui.

Re: RIP TA
I've never classed myself as the brightest knife in the box but I had a little thought. When a civvy company hits the run out of money wall they all take pay cuts to 'save the company' has anyone thought about taking 1 days pay from the regs?? That would pay for a lot more than cutting the TA to nothing for 6 months!!
All those generals and Field Marshals 1 days pay from the upper echeolons (is that right?) would probobly fund a TA unit or 2 for 6 months!

Re: RIP TA
But WHO does the training? If recruits are getting paid for training are the TA instructors? Or the bod who drives them to the RTC on Friday night and back on Sunday?

If they expect the SPSI/PSI's to take over, then they may have a bit of a shock.

Re: RIP TA
As SUT training is still paid then I can only assume, I know I shouldn't, that those who support it will be paid as well, failing that PSIs as they are regs paid 24/7 and can be ordered to?
Who me?
Real stupidity beats artificial intelligence every time!
