And thanks for your heads up on what people in Germany do, having been regular and TA for the past 26 years, I'd never worked that out.
They'll be working harder next month. TA support for Ex Arcade Fusion has been pulled. That's a couple of dozen staff officers in the HQs for starters. They'll be trawling next week. Fortnight in Sennelager anyone?I've heard a separate whisper that the ex itself is being looked at.
Me, me, got to be better than Tidders
yes but next thay will be no TA support for all EX so there will be a lot of time away from Tidders ie you may end up doing months not weeks in the field, fancy that ??? and if you are not in your blocks thay can turn of the heat and save money
Doesn't bother me, we get little to no TA support on exercise anyway. Not digging stating a fact. Sorry to burst a bubble, but even on ops we get very little support from our TA brethern, less than 5% in fact, we are just one of the Corp's that has little need for TA, sorry no offence meant or implied, not all regular units need TA support.

My Corp suffers more than most from lack of currency in the TA. We can use them, but in the main we have to employ them doing other things, which is unfair on them.
And whose fault is that..? That's akin to HR hiring window cleaners when you ask for Window Fitters.

You get the TA you deserve, their performance reflects the level of commitment, investment and leadership put in by the Regs. Over the time I've been in I've seen the time and effort the Regs put in to us grow substantially and guess what ? They get more out.

Now, if you genuinely have no need for the TA as you're fully manned, all happy and not overworked then that's great, resume normal jogging and so on. But if you're not getting the support you need the solution lies in your hands.

If you don't mind me asking what corps is that? I only really know the infantry piece whcih seems a busy one so would be interested in an alternative view.

    Re: RIP TA

The dust is beginning to settle.
M.P.s have zealously defended their constituents.
All the right questions have been asked, but no clear replies given
Briefings have been promised, but none received, everything will appear to go back to normal, then, as it did last time, individual units will begin to disband and disappear. One here, one there, never enough in one area to hit the papers but gradually the T.A. will get smaller and smaller...
It happened before in 1998/9 that time they stopped short but this time?
This time you have this site to vent your spleen on and to keep others up to date. Keep your eyes and ears open, The T.A. is a useful tool but like all tools if it is thrown into a corner and allowed to rust the next time it is wanted it will not work.

my corp. has about 25% TA now you do the maths if we don’t exist they have to do 33% more ops which mean only having 2/3 the time at home

This time you have this site to whinge and snivel and generally annoy other site users. Keep your eyes and ears open, The T.A. is full of tools, and like all tools they often get rusty. When asked not to work, they throw themselves in a corner and moan and moan and moan.

I think we all know who the tool is Grif. If some folk getting a tad passionate about something they obviously care about annoys you that much - why not just stop reading the TA thread ?

Touch a nerve did I? I notice a growing number of TA personnel are also getting a bit narked with the whinging, finding it, and I quote, "an embarrassment"

Getting narked?! It was shameful and embarrassing from the outset.

No, just editing for reality in the same way as you.
My Corps is about 75%-80% TA at a very conservative estimate.
The regular Army would find it impossible, and i use the word advisedly, to function without us. What you are, is a tool, and a dull one at that.
And you JJ aren't even up to his standard. That's a well deserved OT tag you have looking at all the posts I've sen of yours.

Well aren't you angry. As I've already said in several other threads, I agree that the cuts will have an effect on us all, regs included. There are also cuts being made to the regs, but curiously a lack of whinging about it. TA and regs have a different mindset - we "get on with things" and the TA seem to try and stir up a frenzy of righteous indignation at it. Obviously I'm generalising, but that's how it seems from my point of view.

I should also add I've seen one thread on here suggesting that you use the Remembrance parades as a platform to show your discontent. What are your thoughts on that? Perfectly acceptable no doubt
