Re: RIP TA
And whose fault is that..? That's akin to HR hiring window cleaners when you ask for Window Fitters.

You get the TA you deserve, their performance reflects the level of commitment, investment and leadership put in by the Regs. Over the time I've been in I've seen the time and effort the Regs put in to us grow substantially and guess what ? They get more out.

Is this too soon?

Crunchie
If you don't mind me asking what corps is that? I only really know the infantry piece whcih seems a busy one so would be interested in an alternative view.

Re: RIP TA
The dust is beginning to settle.
M.P.s have zealously defended their constituents.
All the right questions have been asked, but no clear replies given
Briefings have been promised, but none received, everything will appear to go back to normal, then, as it did last time, individual units will begin to disband and disappear. One here, one there, never enough in one area to hit the papers but gradually the T.A. will get smaller and smaller...
It happened before in 1998/9 that time they stopped short but this time?
This time you have this site to vent your spleen on and to keep others up to date. Keep your eyes and ears open, The T.A. is a useful tool but like all tools if it is thrown into a corner and allowed to rust the next time it is wanted it will not work.

my corp. has about 25% TA now you do the maths if we don’t exist they have to do 33% more ops which mean only having 2/3 the time at home

Re: RIP TA
Touch a nerve did I? I notice a growing number of TA personnel are also getting a bit narked with the whinging, finding it, and I quote, "an embarrassment"

Getting narked?! It was shameful and embarrassing from the outset.

No, just editing for reality in the same way as you.
My Corps is about 75%-80% TA at a very conservative estimate.
The regular Army would find it impossible, and i use the word advisedly, to function without us. What you are, is a tool, and a dull one at that.
And you JJ aren't even up to his standard. That's a well deserved OT tag you have looking at all the posts I've sen of yours.

Re: RIP TA
Well aren't you angry. As I've already said in several other threads, I agree that the cuts will have an effect on us all, regs included. There are also cuts being made to the regs, but curiously a lack of whinging about it. TA and regs have a different mindset - we "get on with things" and the TA seem to try and stir up a frenzy of righteous indignation at it. Obviously I'm generalising, but that's how it seems from my point of view.
