Re: RIP TA
That is already proposed by both Labour Government & future conservative government. All public servants on over 18k to get pay freeze. This effectively delivers a 2-3% saving in real terms. What the AFPRB recommends doesn't matter.

It's obvious chaps, come on! His hand is in his pocket to pay for his travel to the warzone (no T&S you see) and the chap in the bowler is his psao (you can tell 'cause he's not wearing uniform)

Re: RIP TA
Great - decision is less than a week old and we have the prospect of regulars back filling the TA. I understand that regular officers will replace any TA Marshals who withdraw from the Lord Mayor's Show - a Cat 1 Ceremonial event broadcast live on BBC1.
A Saturday of un-rehearsed ceremonial in mid-November - sounds like a fun packed day out to me.
Instead of "The Marshals are found from the Reserve Forces of Greater London" will we hear "The Marshals are SO2s at Londist and the MOD who are delighted to have this opportunity this opportunity to support the TA in its hour of need"?

Re: RIP TA
It's finished guys.
We just need to be able to see it - once we do, it's 'Work, Family, Friends' for me now.Have Faith....it'll all be OK in the end (but then again, with the GCM and FR2020, maybe it won't be.....).

Re: RIP TA
And just think of all the TA officers watching the parade then nipping into the pub for a well earned beer or three :D

Re: RIP TA
Actually, that sounds crap - why on earth would you give up your weekends for that? Beer in the pub sounds a far better option. And I am prepared to use my own cash for that.
Saving the MoD money all round - well done me!

Re: RIP TA
The MoD, the country and Army are broke due to the mismanagement of this vindictive and cowardly government. The government can't possibly be broke though, they still fund overseas aid and have just given a load of dosh to the film luvvies........

Re: RIP TA
Yes UK PLC is in the financial do-do - but this crisis in MoD is due to much older financial mismanagement within MoD rather than the country-wide problems. How many other Govt Depts have started actually making cuts ? They are all still at the talking about it stage.
Yes, MoD is under-funded for the tasks in hand but we have done 2/10th of FA about real cost saving for years. Rather than make real changes we just binned some front-line units. Even after the wheel turns and we stick LAND and AG back together to reform what we had in the 70s we will still have a massively bloated superstructure, byzantine processes and hugely inefficient procurement. Almost one CS per soldier is a bad enough stat ( Hi Jim30...) but whats the "sharp end" to "rear party" ratio for those in green. 10% on Ops, another 20% in the immediate loop. How much of the remaining 70% is actually stuck in dug-away jobs in RF HQs, Directorates, etc ? . I bet that a close look could free up a fair few - and make the promotion pyramid a litle less chubby at the top.

Re: RIP TA
ok guys enu!
uve all got good valid points and theres a lot of truth in all of what u ve said but lets stop and think here basically this government are screwing the ARMY over whichever bloody part of the army it is!
lets all stop trying to get one up on each other!
I joined the TA many years ago for many reasons but strangely enu and yes even as a female to acquire the real attributes that soldiering brings, be it working hard or playing hard, and yes we all enjoy the added extras be it regs or TA, we are all human, the old adage u get out what u put in! well hey what happened to such values!
Bullshit is coming to my mind, its not about the money, well yes maybe for some its about being sold short! THE ARMY AS A WHOLE ...Its not rocket science really lets pull together not rip each other apart!
all this nit picking is just small minded and misses the whole point
