Beeswax? Morello? Tornado nose cone paint? People come on! take a look in your friendly neighbourhood CoSHH locker and pull out some Clear Protective Laquer, if there is none have your G10 for men demand some. It is the way forward, no painting and waiting for it to dry 2 quick sprays wait 10 seconds to dry and march on!
CRY HAVOC! Let slip the dogs of war!
I say Grayson; there are some walts out there. Fetch the shotguns, I fancy some sport.

The TA do not get Service Dress issued, therefore cannot wear thier medals. I suspect many have more medals than some regular serving soldiers!

If you can't get some bored provost staff to do them, thry and get hold of some stuff called "Morellow". It's a kind of paint that gives you a shiny glass effect. It's not as good close up as getting them bee's waxed, but it does the job. A pot of this stuff costs £5
We're gonna need a bigger boat!!!!!

Re: beeswaxed boots
You can get Leather Luster from dry cleaners as they normally have a cobbler (of sorts) in there
Ezekiel 25:17 And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.

Leather Lustre is great and lasts for years. Tips are :-
- a number of thin coats are better than one thick one.
- dry after each coat in a dust free environment - I used the oven, asall dust etc is burnt awy and it is enclosed - but be careful no one decides to go for a midnight snack!

Re: beeswaxed boots
I got up this morning safe in the knowledge that my boots were gleaming for our parade this morning. This feeling of calm was due to our previously mentioned friends at electrolube for giving us CPL. That was for the first ten seconds anyway, after squeezing my feet into those fine cinderella like glass slippers my world was turned upside down as the biggest piece of toe cap came flying off exposing the leather underneath. It didn't stop there, the more I walked the more they smashed and the more my heart sank. Zero to trashed in 10 steps.
I called a "mate" of mine this morning who put me on to CPL in the first place and he said <Chuckling> CPL is only good for giving bulled boots a final touch and I had been subjected to one of the oldest wind ups in the book...... now he tells me. Lucky I had some back up.
The moral of the story, if something is too good to be true then it probably isn't true.
I'm off to find out how to beeswax boots.

Re: beeswaxed boots
Morello! That's the stuff. I was reading the thread trying to remember that. I only once ever used it. A tin went round our squadron. Being in Command Troop, the RSM knew me far too well. He would have gone nose to nose with me but he stood about 6'37" (and drove a mini - what a sight!) and accused me of painting.

Mercifully because I knew that what I was saying was technically the truth, I was able to stand firm, unflinching until he moved on, not without adding, "Nice boots Trooper Alien."

The BATS at Wattishame use Flexane paint, it is really quite effective! I'm sure the hundreds of thousands of dead soldiers we all are there to remember won't mind you lazy gets not spendinding 5 minutes on them!

Re: beeswaxed boots
Hmmm instructions for that US stuff
1. Leather Luster
2. Fine Steel Wool
3. Leather Luster Pre-cleaner or Lacquer Thinner (General Purpose)
4. Cotton Terry Cloth Rags
PREPARATION:
1. Remove all waxes, oils and dyes from leather articles (new or used) with cotton terry cloth rags and Leather Luster pre-cleaner (or Lacquer Thinner). SCRUB THE SHOES UNTIL NO MORE BLACK COMES OFF ON TO THE RAGS. When sufficiently cleaned, the Leather article will appear to be a dull gray and the shoe color will no longer come off onto the cotton terry cloth rag.
2. Set in sun 5-10 minutes to dry from cleaning process. If not properly clean, Leather Luster will not dry.
Tip: For some of our more popular brand boots, like HI-TECH and Rockey boots, we have found great success with using fine sandpaper to buff the leather in order to help open the pours of the leather. After buffing wipe again with cleaner.
NOTE: It is crucial to keep cleaning until the shoe color no longer adheres to the cotton terry cloth rag. If the shoe is not properly cleaned, Leather Luster will not dry once applied.

Re: beeswaxed boots
Get your butt down to ATR (P) and ask the CQMS R Coy to drop into the local wooden tops Bn. or get the guard room cell lickers to sort them out for you. alternatively, buy some wax yourself!!!!!! stuff your boots with newspaper so that the boots are stiff. heat leather slowly and then melt wax on! keep wax hot with a flame and move wax over leather until smooth and solid. then let the polishing begin. layer up polish and some hot water, over and over again. keep going until your hads are too tired, then start to polish up. takes time, but worth the wait!

Re: beeswaxed boots
The best results for bulled boots is C.P.L. get your frendly Tech Storman to demand it
polish your boots as normal hold can 6" away and spray. This will last you for all those wonderfull parades and when you want to wear them again all you have to do is use a duster 5 min before your due on the Square. used it on my Drill Course at Pirbright and not a thing was said, it does excactly what it says on the tin.

Re: beeswaxed boots
Healthy mudrun around the Essex countryside, followed by many layers of Kiwi whilst still wet, then 20 minutes each with a sylvet and the threat of a beasting off Shergar. Gleaming like the brass knobs on a whores bed. Failing that, arrange with a crab painter and finisher to get them Flexaned for a small fee.
Given to the House of Commons 20 April 1653
It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.
Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you?
Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter’d your conscience for bribes?
Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?
Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil’d this sacred place, and turn’d the Lord’s temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress’d, are yourselves gone!
So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. In the name of God, go!
