As a recruit I vividly remember being booted head first into a firing trench on the range for daydreaming while everyone else was cutting about picking up their brass. I wanted to leather the NCO at the time, but I'd buy him a beer if I met him today (Cpl Me****s, cheers fella!). At the time I was full of bravado and outrage in front of the lads in the evenings, threatening this, that and the other, but the feelings subsided with the realistion that it may affect my chances of passing out, so I knucked down instead. I had a nice inch-long open cut above my left eye as a result, but I didn't do it again.
Training like that made me the soldier I am today, and if all the lads in my section were to be given the same treatment as I was, I'd have a cracking section. Clamping down on so-called 'bullying' has, IMHO, lowered the standard immeasurably.
said corporal hit another girl (in same troop as my daughter) on the head this week, and she made a complaint and he was disciplined for it.
There is more, but I will tell you another day when I have the rest of the tale to tell fully but suffice to say there is a full and formal complaint on its way tonight to the OC and I am expecting a call sometime soon.
Maybe when you give us the update you will give both sides of the story. As for being hit on the head that can be anything from a slap to the back on the head for doing something foolish to a punch in the face. I'd take bets on which one it was but then I'd need the full story. Esther Rantzen and childline have a lot to answer for.
Exactly. There's a world of difference between smacking someone for the sake of it and hitting their helmet to get their attention when they're wearing ear defence, for example.
If there is a complaint to be made then your daughter should make it if she feels of a mind. After all, one day she may serve in Afghanistan and you wont be able to go and fight her battles for her there.
'The honesty and bravery of our fighting forces stands in stark contrast to the weasel words and dishonesty of their political masters'. Liam Fox Now with 'added irony'!
@ Halomonkey ho ho and a merry christmas to you to.
There was only one side - the side the OC was happy to believe.
Im here for costructive replies not sarcastic comments.
You are judging on what has already been discplined for by someone who did hear the full story.
Typical response form someone in denial.
BTW the 'more to tell' isnt about that incident.
A very telling comment if there was ever one. Oh and my comments were not sarcastic they were trying to point out something that you appear to be in denial over.
edit to add: Not quite sure why you are wishing me a Merry Christmas on the 15th Dec or indeed what it has to do with the thread.
Im not fighting her battles mate, she's managing quite fine.
Im just on the receiving end and doing what all responsible parents do and keeping myself well informed. After all, when I was down there last week, they were the ones banging on about how we should support our children (their words not mine) and they're the ones who send the captain round today to make sure everything is ok after said incident.
Mmmm, I reckon they are just a tad concerned don't you? You have no idea but I can see why you're bound to be in denial and rally round your weaker comrades.
errr halomonkey - why am I in denial over another girl's proven incident?
That's her incident that they believed and disciplined him for. I am just relaying how this was the same guy my daughter had an earlier issue with (if you read the OP).
When I said the one side - I was referring to the one the OC seemed to believe, not mine!
