I just passed my first formal interview today! The Sggt interviewing me said she was so impressed she got the WO2 to interview me the same day speeding up my application process by a whole month! Got a date for selection - 14th of December! Have to do pre-selection also which is on the 26th of November, anyone going to be there?

I've just completed my BARB test got 56, and completed my part of the medical forms and handed them into my doctor. How long you think i could be waiting for my medical forms to be complete?
I have my Basic Skill Appointment on the 20/11/08 looking forward to it.
Ive always been training, mostly with weights and some fitness. I'm in pretty good shape physically, just a tad unfit, so I'm trying to get my fitness together. let me know what you think.
50 press ups
55 Sit ups
15 pull ups
1.5 mile in 10.21 ( getting faster, i will do this in under 10mins)
2 mile in 13.18 (outdoor)
Should i try increasing it to 3 miles to improve my stamina? and should i add a weighted backpack?
Thanks for your time chaps
I don't know if I'm right, but i think your run times don't make sense
if your 2 mile time is 13:18 you should be running 1.5 in under 10 mins

Seems to me like hes running on a treadmill , they do a good bit of the work for you. Distance is good , but from what Ive read the general consensus is dont run with weight until your shown how to by the men in the know.

I asked my ACIO that and they told me go ahead with running the 5km but stay away from running with weights. Simply told me if you get even a minor injury at this stage and it turns up at ADSC to be a problem then you will be deferred for 3-6 months. They will train you up gradually to go the distance with a 20kg burgen on your back, you wont be expected to carry that sort of weight from day one.

That makes perfect sense, thanks for your advice.
I will stick to 5km runs and 1.5 mile sprinting for now.
I was just worried about being at the back of the back when i get started you know? I'm a stocky lump, running is something i have to work at, so again your advice is much appreciated.

thanks chaps for all your input.
Thought i would just post this reply to all of you, as I am still getting the hang of the site. Apologies if i don't reply to you all.
I have been doing most of my running on a treadmill, and i have just started running outdoor in the evenings.
I was told that running on a incline on the treadmill will 'sort of' replicate running outdoors, so thats what i have been doing at the moment.
Yes i'm aware that my times don't make sense. As i did my previous runs on a treadmill and takes about 20 seconds to get it to the speed i prefer. When running outdoors, my pace is something i can start instantly and change quickly without complication of pushing buttons. so i did manage a quicker time. Hope to get below 10mins.
I hope that all makes sense, and i again i appreciate all of your inputs.
