My son called Monday evening, but had to text last night as he was feeling very low, he was amongst some others that due to their size did not have track suit bottoms and was having to drill etc in his best trousers.

This is a great forum and I am glad to hear how everyone else feels
    Hi Elmerfud and welcome

    What is your son joining?

My son was also feeling a bit low last night when he text. He said 2 from their Platoon had left. He had a blood test done and a few of the lads had fainted.

Not heard from him yet today but keeping fingers crossed I hear something later.

:D My son is also joining Grenadier Guards :D
He said he was sharing a room with 3 other Grens.

PM me your son's name if you wish and I'll message you my son's name, could ask him when he phones if he knows him :P :P

I guess my son must have the same problem with the track suit bottoms, even though he never said anything on the phone. My son is 6"2.

Oh boy... I thought that arrse had deleted our post!!! Phew lol! I havent5 heard from my son tonight, so I dont know if he had his blood test today. He would have fainted if he did! He hates needles & was worried sick about having it. Yes I am taking my daughter up again on the 16th for the 17th. We will go back on the train on the sat. 7hrs journey! :( n But it will be really worth it. I dont think my daughters secondary school will be pleased that I will be taking my daughter out of her secondary school but this is a very important day. :D

hi everyone, been watching this site for months and finally decided to join although not even sure if i have done it right useless on computers. Yes one of the many proud mothers who's son joined afc on Sunday - very impressed with the set up. Heard from him everynight he is in Peninsula 18 platoon, i think one of the only ones at the mo to have no 1 haircut!!!!! Seem to have done a lot of marching in the rain and has been to the ranges which he enjoyed. Think the worst bit for him is the lack of excercise - fitness freak i'm afraid although think the lads are having a few gym sessions in the mess how I'm not sure. Anyone elses for the Para's?? house very quiet only have the one so don't know what to do with myself need a new hobby. :D :D

Delete posts ...as if I would do that . I thought as we had a good group of parents who interacted well with good info and support you could do it in one place.

You get the thumbs up from me

Thanks MOD. Your a sweetheart. :D

I have just had a 2 min call with my son, who seemed rather preoccupied laughing with his mates! So much for thinking he may miss home just a little bit lol! Yes he did have his blood test, which he survived lol & also a test for clymidia! He didnt know that one was coming! All seemed well. His mates call me the list lady as I had named everythhing in his bag, as we were told to do I must add lol. I spoke to one of the lads there who was laughing so much. He sounded happy. They are getting kit on sat. I hope to get some pics of that. Another one for the album. Has anyone else heard from thier lads or lasses tonight? How were they?
