Re: Parent - Advice and Chat in here
Ladies, no PM's recieved, as for your answer...
We try to keep phase 2 questions out of this forum as it is badge specific and a bit too wide a subject to be looked after here. However starting your own parents thread in the infantry forum (for example) may not work for you as the moderation will be more relaxed (your in with the big boys now).
So I would say try it with a couple of caveats;
Its not a replica of the main parents thread (call it Phase 2 parents chat not ITC phase 2 chat).
There is a distinct difference between phase 1 and 2, no more hand holding as they are now soldiers, expect some harsh realities to come out.
Finally it will not become a sticky unless it proves popular amongst you (no bumping)but as your all chatter boxes no doubt it will get there fast.
Of course the forum mods reserve the right to obliterate it from orbit should it be a load of nonsense
Over to you guys.

wow, what a lot to catch up with, i will be on the ball when i get back home to my laptop, so beware , you wont be able to log on without a post from me..........., better news last night,. still bored but happy to get through it, apparently 2 had put in notices (to quit i think) in his room, but as some-one has already said it will make the others stronger and more determined to stick it out. I am going to PM all newies eventually to find out where your kids are as we have been advised not to post their platoons etc. and then do myself a list, as I will get very confused of whose who. (the blondness i think)..... xx

[quote="Rose
Just don't send sweets and chocolate, as it will get confiscated until after the six weeks ..... they are all on a massive detox at the moment and banned from the Spar Shop, other than cleaning 'essentials'!!
[/quote]
I think this depends on who their corporal is - I did send some sweets after a couple of weeks. My JS said that if sweets / choc was sent, the corporal held onto it & gave it out a little at a time & they had to share it with their room. But maybe he was just lucky he was Cumbrai 7 Plt. He also had his birthday during the first 6 weeks & I sent a cake that they all shared!

Re: Parent - Advice and Chat in here
looks like I might have made a mistake
after reading some of the reviews, mothers were saying that they had sweets and chocolate in their cases my son didnt take anything, so yesterday i posted him some blister plasters and boot liners and a bar of chocolate I hope I dont get him in trouble for receiveing it
house is very quiet without him however I have heard from him every night, received his kit yesterday and was ironing it, but he says he is a bit bored, hopefully training will start next week

Re: Parent - Advice and Chat in here
my lad says a few want to leave in his platoon , he also said corporal warned any sweets found would be confiscated so the whole room eat everything they had in one go and were all bloated he reckons hes made right choice, so fingers crossed

Re: Parent - Advice and Chat in here
I can only vouch for last years intake here, but barring Medical, I have to say the the JS were encouraged to stay even change cap badge, that said some of my lads section and intake did leave. At this point it should be the start of an adventure, insomuch as it's all new, things will start to moive on a pace quite quickly once the admin and stuff is out of the way. While your JS might be finding it all a 'bit boreing' at the moment this time is valuable for them to bond with each other, it's all about teamwork after all, and also important for the staff to get a feel of who's who and what they have to work with.
I'm happy to field any questions if I can having seen my lad through this, but do'nt manage to always read all posts here so please feel free to PM. As for phase two as disco says it's very different the lads up at Catterick just now and knackered but loving it if I can help here too, then I'm only to happy to.
It can be a tough time for all concerned, chins up ladies your lads and lasses are doing something they want to and not everyone can, there are very few hounourable professions left these days, soldiering is one of them.

Re: Parent - Advice and Chat in here
Hi All,
Please remember to avoid using your sons and daughters names. This is a public forum and open to all including PS at AFC, it should not cause any problems but anonymity is best. :D
Their Companies peninsula, waterloo etc contain 240+ boys and girls their platoons 48 and their sections 12, you can see how quick giving this info can single them out. Don’t want to be an alarmist but just be careful in your posts. I do believe you can go back and edit your posts.
Please do keep posting it is a very good way to get info about what your JS is doing, as they don’t all keep us parents informed daily.
Many of us have found this site a great way to vent our frustrations
too, because their JS called on Monday telling you they going to DAOR (Discharge As Of Right) but called today to tell you what they are doing in their career for the next 12 years and it’s also good to know you’re not total nutcase because you were crying in Tesco because you walked past his/her favourite cereal. I think last years intake had it all, but I’m sure the new intake has got lots to give.
Hold tight
