Just got home from the Passing In Parade this morning for Burma Coy. Well done to all the JS who did themselves proud!! The weather was kind - crisp, with blue skies and sunshine (amazing after the weather we drove through on Thursday to get there!). A big thankyou to all the staff there who made it all possible, and steered them through the ups and downs of their first six weeks.
Yes, I clapped, cheered and tears spilled when I finally got to give him that bear hug. OMG, how grown up he seems!
We're now looking forward to his week's leave and he is full of confidence for when he goes back (don't want to think about that yet meself!!).
Btw, he ate two large MacDonald meals on the way home - guess I'd better do extra large food shop tomorrow!
Congratulations to the Senior JS who have been made up to Corporal - alot of your lads were marshalling today and were brilliant.
Chat soon, I'm knackered!! (but so happy and emotional) :D
Long time no see, hope you didn't miss me too much!! :D
First 6 weeks out the way. Without sounding cocky I don't see how people say the first 6 weeks is so hard and big it up like they do, it wasn't that bad too be honest.
I've really enjoyed it actually. Had my pass in parade today (although it ses 14th cos i'm writing after 12, who invented the clock system we use)
Pass in was a good day, now its just nice to be able to chew the fat and mong it for a week :D :D
Hi Rose I am so happy for you and your son having him home after a long 6 weeks. It's difficult to put into words the feelings you have when you see them pass in. The week will go very quickly. Funny they all seemed to woof down 2 big macs. Being deprived of junk food for 6 weeks.LOL.
ENJOY.
Lucky Luke, great to hear you survivedLOL. Enjoy your break. No 6am starts no bellowing Cpl and plenty of crap food. At least when you go back they will let you out at weekends. You can relax a bit more. Ha Ha.
Ski trip last I heard they were in Germany, should be there now.
Italy is playing Rugby tomorrow I am glad they are not playing England so I don't mind them winning (fat chance).
Hi everyone we went two my lads parent day yesterday and what a good day it is. it is a very good insight to see what they do and the food they have is fantastic.
We got back from Harrogate this morning. We had a great four days. Its a brilliant area with loads to do and with fantastic shopping in Leeds and York.
We were very lucky our son was allowed out both evenings to have dinner with us so we got to see plenty of him. It culminated with going shopping in Asda's for essentials for ski trip (new pokemon game). There were lots of the junior soldiers shopping that evening. They were like a lot of old women comparing their purchases.
We havent heard from our son so we presume that they've reached Italy ok.
Parents day was worth going even though we were childless. The demonstrations were really informative. They showed how the J/S live in the field. I could do most things but that looked grim! Cold wet and no comfort. I cant believe that its one of their favourite things to do.
The J/S were so polite and well mannered - the staff deserve a huge pat on the back for that
They have arrived safetly, heard from our son earlier, enjoying his first ski lesson! He claims to be very good at the emergency fall to the ground when going to fast technique
I also heard from my son to say he had arrived safely after the LONG 29 hour journey! I think the highlight was stopping of in Luxembourg and going into Pizza Hut. LOL. He said the hotel is nice with stunning views and the sky was a lovely blue with great sunshine. He had his first ski lesson today which went better then he thought, as it is his first time skiing. Not sure about the ski lifts though, he said they were pretty high up and scary - not a word my son uses often! He found it quite amusing to see three year olds whizzing pass him on skis but did say what a wonderful experience it is. Nice to hear.
oldarmymidwife, glad to hear you managed to spend time with your son, made the journey all worth while. :D
Desborough, I'm not aware of any intake at AFC(H) on the 2nd Feb, was it the reserve list for the 4th Jan?
Thank you for letting me know they got to Italy ok. He finally rang me this evening. He sounded really tired but said that it was great fun. They had been swimming today as well as the skiing. They were all in bed at 8.30 too knackered to do anything else.
