Re: All MEDICAL chat & queries in here please.
Hi, when i start running my shins hurt a little, then it goes away but returns after my run. If i touch my shins there is quite a sharp pain. Anybody had this and anything i can do to minimise it happening? Think it is called shin splints??

First of all, stop running.

There's not alot people can do online, best bet is getting some hands on advice from a specalist.

Shin splints haunt alot of people, Me included. As above stop running, ice on your shins then something warm a hot water bottle if you have 1, then ice again. when you are sitting about try and keep your feet up this will help the blood flow through the muscles. All this speeds up the healing process. Do this as often as you can. To keep your fitness up make a effort to go swimming or riding. Hope this helps you as much as it helped me!

Re: All MEDICAL chat & queries in here please.
Went to the Dr's today about my "depression" he's writing down I've previously had Mild depressive moods due to emotional issues that are no longer a problem, I was not and am not a risk to myself or others. Also the fact I was only off from work once (over a year ago) he's writing down that even when diagnosed I am still able to carry out normal day-day functionality.
If it means I fail the medical forms, can I appeal do you think and scream PMS? lol Any ideas what PMS would come under as it has similar/same symptoms of depression.Misseh

PMS bad enough to be mistaken for Depression? Can you imagine that working for you? I'm so moody once a month that I could be written off with depression. that'll convince them to allow you in..... ffs

It would come under trying to pull a fast one as you're female and would show that you will expect special consideration throughout your career. If that's the best you can come up with don't bother. Oh and btw before you think I'm a guy having a go, I'm not I'm female and have a very low opinion of females who play the PMT or any other 'I'm female' card to get on in life. Oh and let's not forget you are now showing you are willing to use deceit when normal channels don't give the answer you want.

Woah sorry if that seemed to offend people and no, I wouldn't use the PMS card... was a semi-joke and before you have a go, taking the "symptoms" into consideration, me in tears for a week, not being able to sleep or eat much... Has been classified as "depression" I myself didn't/don't particularly agree with it. I was given medication, which I stopped taking after a few days because I felt better.
I've looked up PMS as my friend gets the above mentioned symptoms and I can say they appear to be similar to my previous symptoms.
Symptoms of PMS:
© NetDoctor/Justesen
There are more than 100 recognised symptoms that may be due to PMS. Fortunately, most women experience only a handful of problems. The most common symptoms are listed below.
Psychological
o Irritability.
o Mood swings.
o Losing your temper easily.
o Loss of confidence.
o Crying for no particular reason.
o Aggression.
o Poor concentration.
o Tiredness.
Perhaps what I should've said is if need be, should I get a second opinion?
Once again sorry :/Misseh

Re: All MEDICAL chat & queries in here please.
As Confucius might have said 'when in hole stop digging'. Whether you call it depression or PMS so bad it was diagnosed as depression, you're not winning. Try thinking it through, crying for a week etc etc , do you really think that will help your case? Oh and I thought you had depression due to 'emotional issues' which are now not a factor. Try making up your mind which it is, then try a little bit of honesty, especially with yourself. Then once you've been honest with yourself go get your 2nd opinion and be honest with them but neither scenario looks promising.

Re: All MEDICAL chat & queries in here please.
this is what you are missing

If you can't get in because you had some problems a while ago don't try and blame it on something else. what good will a second opinion do on a consultation from a year ago? A second opinion should be sought at the time of the condition, not some time later as you won't be showing the symptoms.also available in sarcastic

Re: All MEDICAL chat & queries in here please.
Thank you both for the replies, I did see a different doctor 2 weeks after the diagnosis as a review and basically said "I'm okay I don't think it was that" it seems to have sorted itself out.... But on the system this hasn't been put down. The emotional issue he was refering to was me moving from Kent to Hampshire.
If I don't get in on medical grounds I'll accept it as is, at the time I didn't realise depression would cause such an issue later on. Hence why now I've gone "oh sh!t" and looking up the symptoms there could of been a hundred and one possibilities it could of been. Oh well, just have to wait and see
Thankoooo both againMisseh
