If swamping was a barr to entry then 90% of squaddies would be Med discharged after a night on the lash.

good old JSP 346 gives us this beauty

"Candidates with a history of diurnal urinary
incontinence, or of nocturnal enuresis in the two years preceding entry are
graded P8 and barred from entry regardless of the presence of normal
    neurological and psychological investigations"

so it's ok to lag yourself through drunkeness or in the case of reccy mechs, lazyness, once you've got in, but not in the two years before joining up*.

*except reccy mechs, they are required to smell faintly of urine during the recruiting process.
    also available in sarcastic

I have an impacted wisdom tooth on the lower left. It's been causing me trouble for the past year or so, but my dentist told me the first time I saw him about it that it was too close to the nerve in my jaw, and that they have special guidelines to follow before considering removing it (has to be causing problems for more than 9 months, severely impacted, etc.). I went back recently and he told me that looking at my x-ray he can see it definitely doesn't have any more room to move. He told me to give it another 3 months and if I'm still having trouble he'd get me in to have it removed. I informed him that I was starting Basic in just shy of 4 months.

I had a minor operation just after I applied for the first time back in 2010, and I had to wait for the 6 months all clear before re-applying. Would I be deferred to another intake if I had my wisdom tooth removed soon and told them during the medical at Basic?

If I don't have it removed beforehand and it continues to cause me problems during Basic, will they remove it?

I went to selection on the 7th June and I got medically deferred because I have to go see a specialist doctor due to an operation I had when I was 4, The doctor said she would write to them on the Monday but I haven't heard anything back yet. I just wondered if it normally takes this long to hear something? Thanks

Speak to your ACIO, and ask them to chase it.

You'd be better off with putting up with it during phase 1. Then seeing the Army dentist at phase 2.

What about if I was to have it removed before I go to Basic. Do you know if there would be a problem then? I imagine it would depend on how much time there is between having it removed and starting..

I've an impacted wisdom tooth gripes a bit now and then, sometimes it's fine for years.
Follow the dentists advice I decided to leave mine alone. Lower ones are harder to remove.
