However due to my medical discharge from the regular force I was deemed permanently medically unsuitable for the NZ army. However upon looking at your criteria for flat feet (which is what I was MD’d for, I don’t understand why, as the only reason I was kicked out was pretty much my decision as to get used to the orthotics that the NZ army forced me to wear. I have never had any pain and still don’t when walking or running. So my question is, would being medically unsuitable for the NZ army instantly prevent me from joining the British army or would (if I explained myself) they give me that chance to do ADSC and prove my self. Any help would be great as it has been a bit of a blow to my dreams. Thanks for any help given.

I am not aware that failing to meet the medical standards of another country's army would make you an automatic failure for ours, however your medical condition could. Check the thread JSP 346 in the joining up (regular) forum for more details.

Your best bet is to get in there in person ASAP and have a serious word. Don't mince your words and be all submissive, be confident and get it sorted. If you start getting pissed about, ask to talk to their boss - you shouldn't end up having to go that far though.

Then the same applies for over the phone. Be confident if slightly forceful, don't be quiet and submissive - be friendly though. If you're being pissed about, ask for the senior recruiter.

Re: ADSC - Chat and Queries here

I'm at the Luton offices and had to do a pre-adsc first, wasn't too hard if you need any information about it don't hesitate to ask!

Going to Pirbright on the 9th of February and have a few questions if you gents wouldn't mind answering!

I'm thinking about driving there as it'll save about a hour in travel, is there any where to park residentially for free? the train station doesn't have many houses around it!

What exactly should I bring and how much?

    So I'm thinking

3x T-shirts. One during the first day as I'll be in the hall and outside I'll have a fleece on with coveralls. On the 2nd day wear 2x if the weather is cold with a fleece
2x Fleece. One for the first day and one for the second day
Suit. Wear for when arriving and for the final interview.
2x boxers and socks. One for first day and second day
1x Shorts for medical, wont wear it in the hall, i'll wear trouses
2x Track suit bottoms. One for first day another for second day.
    Hat and gloves
toothbrush, Towel, spray, toilet roll, soap
Trainers I run in and a old pair for the team tasks

    Anything thing I missed?

all i took was sports kits, trainers x2, wash kit and toothbrush, suit, Underware for 2 days, tracksuit bottoms and job choice forms to memorise for the interviews, and that was sound for me mate, maybe your taking too much

Depending on your age at enlistment you can leave in the first 3 or 6 months of training.
Once you enlist you have to serve 28 days in training. After the 28th day you have the balance of the 3 or 6 months to apply in writing to leave the Army.
Under 18 on enlistment you have 6 months, over 18 you have 3 months. Once this time has passed you are committed to serve your contract.

Re: All MEDICAL chat & queries in here please.

Hey, this is my first post here :D After reading the JSP 346 thread I've got a question.

Basically, I'm thinking about joining up in the future, however I suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME) in the past and it lasted longer than 6 months. This was about 4 years ago now and I’ve been living a normal active life since without any symptoms.

Will this hinder my chances of getting in, even if I can prove I've fully recovered now?

    Thanks in advance!
